I've owned my E65 for 3weeks now and I must say this is my best phone ever. It's nice, lightweight and handy and does simple tasks as well as complex ones with a lot of ease.
The GOOD bit:
- Software is easy to use and is LOADED with business features like email, Exchange Sync, Blackberry connect, wifi and voip
The VOIP client, if you can get it to work gives excellent call quality and is the killer application on the phone
Great looking interface and wonderful PDA features
3rd party applications can be installed with ease
Supports Google Maps and external GPS receivers
Inspite of being a PDA, can play MP3s with ease, and videos and the lot
The provided camera is quite decent, if not excellent
Sadly, this phone is far from perfect:
Firmware (software) has a lot of bugs, specially noticed when using Wifi or VOIP. You have to frequently restart the phone to connect to your VOIP provider. No new firmware was available at the time of writing this review. Nokia should have released a new firmware by now considering that the phone does have a few issues
The slider makes it difficult to type with one hand
Older Nokia Symbian 60 applications do not work with this phone, like those designed for N70, 6600 etc.
SIP (VOIP) calls do not work on all wifi networks and this phone cannot connect to network with complex wifi security
Inspite of all my complaints, I'd say this phone is my best phone ever! I work for an IT company so I use blackberries, O2s a LOT and can safely say this is a way better deal than any of them. In the end it's a Nokia so it's sturdy and build quality is excellent.
If you're planning to buy this phone, remember it's a PDA and not an entertainment phone. If you want a phone for entertainment buy the N73 it's a much better option.
