Nokia E63 - Provides what I want. Review on Nokia E63

Hi, I am writing this review after using this phone for 11 months.

I have white color Nokia E-63, it cost me 9800INR including 8 GB memory card(1 GB returned back).

Overall I am satisfied with this product. I am a IT professional. so mainly want to check emails, surf internet, chat etc.

Reception quality of phone is good. No call breaks till now. except due to'actual' network issues while travelling or rains etc.

Volume control keys are missing but shortcut key'lower+right' works well. During calls you can easily increase decrease volume by navigation key. 4 special shortcut keys are provided you can customize them accordingly for 6 diff functions. Home key is not costomizable.

After using keypad for few days I got accustomed. Can chat while walking too. Lot of hidden shortcuts are provided. just explore them, you will be happy to know new things.

Screen is durable and is of plastic . so less chances of breaking. I am using screen guard so dont know about scratches on screen.

Navigation key's silver material is cheap. goes off, after 6 months.

Sound quality is POOR, but I don't listen music on high volume and I manage by using earphones while in office. 3.5 mm jack can be used for computer headphones too.

Camera: Pathetic. but flash super good. Photos in bright light and with non-shaking hands are good.

Excuse for above 2 drawbacks are that, this is business phone. but businessmen also listens music and clicks photos:-(

Flash: It works as torch. Press space even when keypad is locked.

Push mails sounds good. easy to use, attachments are also available.

Customizable home screen with different icons and shortcuts makes phone easy to use. But you have to spend time once, during setup for all these stuffs. later you will love to find those apps easily.

Lack of good themes. Wallpaper is of no use at it makes difficult to read home screen. After applying wallpaper its very difficult to read calendar entries, memo etc on home screen.

PTT, Internet telephony, VPN available but never used, but are of use.

Wifi: Very good. Gives good connectivity and speed.

Apps: Youtube, facebook, etc are good but Nokia must provide a lot more. For every new software you have to download and install. Pre-installed multi-language dictionary is handy and easy to use.

Active notes, Quickoffice serves handy when in need.

'Search' provides a kind of powerful search within phone.

Alarm and clock is of great use. You can use it to set multiple alarms and set time for diff. countries.(For me its very useful).

Calculator is good.

Contacts search is very handy . type the name and number will come automatically with just few keystrokes. I like it.

Call logs only 20 but Log can be used to store 30 days all entries including SMS, incoming and out calls, internet GPRS use etc.

Opera mini 10 browser is good to use. Makes internet surfing easy.

Battery: Very good jumbo size battery. When new easily can be used for 2 days(When GPRS Always ON else 4 days). Now its 11 monts old so works only for 1 day when GPRS is always ON and 2 days when OFF.

3G and Wifi sucks battery. Battery gets empty in 3-4 hours.

Design: Looks good in White color. Gives royal looks but you have to care for it. After 1 year it is still white, and not became yellowish. But grip is not provided in white, as it is provided in red, black or blue. Camera portion at back is little bit out of the body. Prone to scratches when you put it somewhere. I always keep it on some paper, book, mobile cover etc. It needs care.

Conclusion: Provides satisfaction at this range of business class mobile. It gives me what I want from it, in return it just needs care.
