Not a good choice. Review on Nokia E62

With no doubt I am a fan of Nokia and that is the reason I just dived in to buy E62 without making comparision with other alternatives. My happy experience with Nokia since 5 years just ended there. Nokia is good in making phones in almost all other catagories but not the enterprise solution. This is their first try and like expected in the first attempt is not a good offering. Here are my observations:

1. It is considerably slower than any of the handsets. Takes 3-8 sec to open folders; mails; files etc. Blackberry handsets & even the Nokia communicator series are way far better in response time.

   
   




2. There is no WLAN facility and it has the SIP stack - now I wonder what was on the mind of the developers. You really can not use this feature on E62 without WLAN connectivity. GPRS/EDGE would not be supporting the voice quality on for the SIP calls.

   
   




3. The body is scratch prone.

   
   




4. You can not adjust the font sizes.

   
   




5. There is no good IM (instant messanger) available. Blackberry has yahoo & Google Talk working well.

   
   




6. The OS has hanged quite often for me. I had to take the set to Nokia care to have that reset once.

   
   




7. The dimentions of this phone are way broader than any of the smart phones like blackberry, sony ericson, motorolla.

   
   




8. There is no cost benefit either; you can buy blackberry/sony ericson with the same price & with nice performance.

   
   




9. You can have security code for the handset/SIM/Memory card to restrict the access to confidencial info.

   
   




10. The handset can not be charged using the data cable as the blackberry and sony ericson phones can be charged.

    
    

This means you have to carry 2 cables along with you when you travel and hunt down the power points to charge the set. Specially difficult when you travel internationally where the power points are different than your home country.

1. After 6 months, my connector for the hands-free broke down and nokia care just blamed entirely on me. I can not understand how I can break something from inside the phone!!!

I would really suggest not to go for this phone as it is surely not good for messaging and is avg on the call handeling. It is waste of money when compared to performance and ease of use. You should invest the same amount in blackberry/sony ericson or if you have crush on Nokia then Communicator series; but not the E62.

I used to like Nokia; now personally I will never buy any phone from Nokia again.
