Value for Money:

I recently purchased Nokia E51 after much deliberation.I always wanted a powerful business phone but did not want to shell out the money that amount of money as my office policies does not allow me to use high tech gadgets and the phone would just be used on weekends.

My brand loyalty was with Nokia and E series was something I had my eyes on. I wanted a phone with features similar to E71. But it was too heavily priced for me at Rs.19800. When I was looking at all the options and similar phones I saw E51 which had all the features of E71 was slim and very reasonably priced for the features it had. The price was Rs.11275 and I immediately made my mind that I'm gonna get this one.

I did a few review reading on this phone and found it to be quite good and at that price it was pretty cheap over other phones. The other options were Sony Ericsson G700 priced at Rs.14k, HTC phones at Rs. 10k and Rs.14.5k - but for some reason I do not like HTC. I preferred to stick with my long trusted Nokia.

One of the features that I loved was Class A GPRS povided by E51 as I'm constantly connected to internet and many of my friends complaint of not being able to call me when I'm connected to internet. I was thinking this would solve my problem. As Class A devices(very few in the market) can access both data and voice calls simultaneously. Plus it had all the features - Bluetooth, Infrared, Wi-Fi, S60 3rd Edition, Avg Music Player, High Speed Internet browsing with EDGE/3G. But I was mistaken and the Class A Device that I was expecting did not prove good for me. Every time I connect to Internet and dial a call, my Internet is suspended temporarily.

I took this up with Nokia Custemr Care and they told me that E51 supports Class A GPRS but Class B EGPRS/EDGE. And almost everywhere you find EDGE so the mobile always connects to Class B EDGE. I've once had the oppurtunity to connect to GPRS when I was travelling to my native place and I found that it indeed has Class A GPRS, where voice+ data calls work together.

I got E51 with an inbuilt 512MB Memory Card and the Tech Specs say that upto 4GB is supported. However, I have read in Nokia discussion forum that ppl have used 8GB card and it works fine. Nokia have not updated the Tech Specs as they have not tested it. But I could not find 8GB microSDHC card in the market yet. Will need to try that.

One more feature I tried and liked was - I installed JoikuSpot on my mobile and it turns the mobile into Wi-Fi Hotspot. Its simply awesome! I turn my mobile to Wi-Fi hotspot and access internet using Wi-Fi from my laptop. The speed is very good. The mobile conects using EDGE/3G.

M enjoying my E51 so far. It hangs sometimes when I work very fast on it with more than 2-3 applications running. Like Music Player, Internet, etc.

! more good feature I liked about it was - it supports multiple access points. That means if someone is using my mobile Wi-Fi for internet on Laptop or PC, I can still connect to internet on mobile with a sepearate access point.

The earphones that comes with the sales kit is not the best. I tried usign my friends Xpress Music earphones and they work very well.

The bottom line is - Its a gr8 phone if you want good internet connection.
