I bought a nokia x6 in August, 2010 and recently the screen went blank !! This happened about a month earlier too..but the screen came up in another hour or so..and I thought it was a one-off incident..Recently, when it went blank, I was in HK and I took it to the nokia care center there..THey checked my phone and said that they need to replace the screen and since my phone had only India warranty --


I would need to pay for it..The alternative would be to get the screen replaced free of cost in India since it was under warranty .. This was on Friday, 29th April. SInce anyway I was supposed to fly back on 1st may to Bangalore-- I thought I would get my phone repaired here..I went to Nokia care center at CMH Road, Bangalore and gave my phone for replacement of LCD screen..After waiting for over 45 mins...they came back to me and said that there has been a liquid damage on the phone and so I need to pay 2400 INR for the same..


I disputed it..since anyway the phone was checked on Friday itself at HK and then after that I had siwtched off the phone and packed in the cover(as anywya it was not working) and had directly opened it infornt of the lady at nokia care.. !! THe lady went back and talked to her center incharge and said nothing could be done..


I asked her to give me the reason for voiding the warranty on my phone in writing clearly specifying which part had liquid damage and I would be filing a cosumer complaint against them for all this crap !!!


She initially refused and then she went nd talked to her center incharge -- who was one of the most rude persons I have ever met..He was like..the phone is damaged..nothing can be done..you need to pay nd I am not going to giving you anything in writing --- literally shouting at me...saying going to consumer court wont help you !!!


By God..how can nokia employ such people for customer service...This even made me loose my temper and I shouted back at him !! After my blast -- he agreed to write on the job sheet that there was liquid damage on the lcd panel again without specifying clearly the damage which was only on one of the cables and gave me a xerox of the jobsheet only. He also mentioned the cost was only an estimate and he might try to reduce the cost for me...When I asked him to sign off the sheet...he baltantly refused...saying he cannot do the same !!!


Then when I asked him to sign off the xerox copy he blatantly refused and said..this is it I can give you ..you take it or leave it ....and then went inside the repair room and was standing there ..unashamed of anything...


Now here --- in summary here is the nokia center response....they refuse to acknowlege the waraanty because of liquid damage...refuse to give me a signed copy of the reason refusing the same...and also offering me a reduced service charge for the repair after I shouted at you guys !!!...And all this after you center in HK had acknowldeged that it had to be replaced under warranty ....What the hell is this !!! Are you guys running a scam ?? Is there a negotiation involved for me to get my warranty...


ANyway after sometime the properitor Mr. Mahendran came out and he agrred to sign off the xerox (without putting the seal)......he was some sensible person but he was also like going to consumer court is not going to help etc as it is difficult for you to prove your claim and blah blah !!!


All this has left a bad taste for me and for sure...am not going to recommend Nokia anytime to anyone whom I know and infact would def encourage people not to buy Nokia phones..If this is the after sales service you guys provide -- then you dont deserve to be in business...!!!


So, my honest advice...NEVER BUY A NOKIA PHONE....THE AFTER CARE SERVICE IS PATHETIC ...
