We purchased 2 Nokia phones in 2010 from authorized Nokia outlets. However, the phones started malfunctioning. Nokia X6 purchased on 25.9.2010 has its  microphone not working at all. The other phone i.e. Nokia 7230 purchased on 18.12.10 has scroll button non-working. We went to Nokia care on 7.9.2011 at Gole Market, New Delhi. The representative from Nokia demanded Rs. 1850/- and Rs. 2000/- for these two phones for repairs despite both the phones were within warranty. The company had usual reason that the damages have been caused by liquid and thermal reason which are not covered in warranty. We argues that no such thing ever occurred to these phones but the representatives at the service centre were adamant saying the device may draw moisture even from air. Now, this is nonsense as if a device cannot function in Indian weather conditions then it should not be sold in India. Since our argument lasted for 2 hrs or so, we found this is what Nokia people were doing practically with every customer whosoever claimed the phone was within warranty. This is pure loot by Nokia and I am sure, if this happens in some other country(Finland itself), the company may have to face penal action any day. I request people to raise a voice against such practices. In fact, there should be some forum where customer care centers of different companies are required to maintain database so that concentrated action may be taken against erring/cheating companies. They are selling III class material in India and not ready to admit the product has manufacturing defect.
