As the TataIndicom ad goes -

''Insan Phone leta hai baat karne ke liye''

might not be exactly true in the recent times. We have found innumerable uses for the cell phone -

Messaging, alarm, reminder, games, FM, camera, file sharing, browsing, video, recording, watching TV, music player... and many more that I count think offhand. But still the basic use remains to speak. I mean all the above are peripheral services. The core service remains SMS and voice calls.

And exactly that is cumbersome in this phone.

The touch pad screen is like a dream for many. One of my closest friend has this phone. And I have used it ample number of times to be able to write a review on it.

Pros:

1) Amazing clarity of display.

2) Very good camera and picture resolution is very good. You download it to the comp and presto! all your images are secure.

3) The memory is good enuf to hold many songs, so you don't even have to bother about the FM player. Songs at the touch of the pad

4) Blue tooth can make you connect to anyone at anytime... thats great news.

5) There are so many features that will take such a long time to explore that your time will pass in a jiffy.

6) Amazing storage capacity - so you can keep sending and receiving messages and not worry about deleting them for a long time. Similarly no upper limit for your contacts too.

  1. Handwriting recognizer... wonderful!

Cons:

1) For someone used to the normal phone.. this phone was very cumbersome.

Eg:

a) Making calls requires you to go to the contacts and then find your friend and then call. The touch pad screen is quite not responsive when you do a soft touch ( ok I mean a really soft touch)

And you have slant the phone and then speak into it... not the usual pick up and speak.

b) Receiving calls... tada, where is your stylus?? Again, I am being unfair by comparing it with bar or shell phones, but thats where their ease lies.

c) SMS is easy, as you just have to touch the alphabet and you have the message. But trust me, its easy but not fun :). We've got so used to our thumb doing the typing involuntarily, looking into the screen and touching it with the stylus is pain.

Yes you can treat it to recognize your handwriting. but initially it will be a little difficult

2) Cumbersome. U are a girl with small hands then forget it... My fingers start aching soon after I start working on it. Its too huge for my small palms.

3) And it is expensive. At 22,000 it is definitely not easy on the pockets.

All said and done, It is a phone with a lot of good features and innovative styling. But still if the basic features are not easy to use, I wouldn't recommend it.

BTW my friend after 20 days of buying this phone, is bored of using it, as it still doesn't match the fun of having a cell with keys.
