Hi MS-ians,

After a long long time, i'm inspired to write a review on a product just because of it's performance. I've been using Nokia mobiles for over 5 years now and have been moving up the price range.

At launch, I bought a Nokia 1100, followed by a Nokia 1108. Then, I used a Nokia 3120 (which I still feel is one of the most under-rated and most practical mobiles ever at that price) and skipping the next price range, went straight up to the Nokia 6681 (bought on e-bay at a great price- i'll write a review on that experience too, but not here.).

From the outside, the phone is a sure winner with great looks (don't complain that it's bulky- with those features, it's supposed to be!)and a beautiful screen (262500 colours). The ergonomics are real friendly and once we get used to the plastic key pad, messaging also is pretty good (though Nokia should have tried out this phone with a metal keypad).

The phone runs on the ultra-popular series 60 symbian-java platform and has an internal memory of around 9 mb, which ensures that the applications from the memory card run real fast.

The phone came with a 64 mb dual-voltage rs-mms card (too much jargon right!), but I bought a 256 mb one at 1000/- extra. Now, to the actual part-

Like all Nokia phones, the basic applications like messaging, t9, multiple entry phone book, scheduler etc are great. And, the 60 series regular features like Blue-tooth, Various themes, file manager, PC-suite connectivity, PC-Phone Synchronisation etc etc are also bundled. The real fun starts with the 1.3 mega-pixel camera with flash, which has a slide-on cover too!. Nokia is promoting this phone rightly as a imaging smart-phone and the phone comes with in-built video editing and movie making software and offers direct printing via pict-bridge available with most of leading print kiosks (eg- kodak network shops).

The clarity of the photos and video is very good for a mobile phone and this certainly has reduced my digital camera usage.

Also, there is a digital music player (real player is in-built) with stereo headphones, which are very very good (almost i-pod quality I must say).

But the best thing about the phone is it's internet capability. I am on Airtel and am registered with GPRS (499/- per month for unlimited usage). Nokia 6681 comes with all the un-understandable but pretty useful features such as GPRS2, Edge, and some next version of Edge which is supposed to be faster etc etc. The base-line is that this phone is as good as a computer internet browser (especially with opera mini browser for mobile phones- available free from https://opera.com) expect for attachments and downloads. Most of my net usage nowadays is from my mobile!

Also, like with the n-series, nokia 6681 also supports mobile blogging- https://nokiamblog.in etc.

i've been using this phone for 4 months now and am still trying to get comfortable with all the features involved.

Too much of usage and too many features have an obvious downside- Battery back up. The phone has the standard nokia bl-5c battery, which I think is a bit too low-powered for a phone like this. i'm sure nokia will shortly change that.

Overall, i'm very happy with my purchase and with the phone.

Hope this review did not sound like a paid advertisement for nokia 6681, but it truly is a worthy phone.

Enjoy
