Why did I bought this product

My trusted old Nokia 5510 died in my last trip to Goa and I was sure that its repair will cost a lot, which was not

worth as already it was giving a lot of old battery related problems. So I started my search. Nokia 6600 and 3230

were my two original choices. 6600 was extremely good value for money but was too old, while 3230 looked OK but was

getting a lot of bad reviews at Cell phone forums. 6681 was my next choice but it was too expensive. So I looked

around and got to know about 6670, the dealer was keen to sell me 6681 and so he gave me lot of negatives but I

asked a lot fo questions at Internet forums and was told that 6670 is good choice and so I finally bought it for

13k (INR), which after adjusting the 1K cash back credit card festive offer will come to 12K. Not bad at all.

I was looking for Symbian based phone so other Nokia's in this range or cheaper (like 6230i) were out of choice. PC

Syncing was a very big feature for me and I guess no one can beat Nokia in that so Samsung E-760 was ruled out

(though I must say that that phone has the most clear screen, I have ever seen in a phone)

Why I like about 6670

Look and feel (very classy, silver look, solid keys which are not likely to be pressed by accident in pocket)

Very powerful PC Suite features (I can even send SMS's from PC !!), I use that a lot and its a life saver if u have

as many meetings as I do

Better camera than 6600 (1 mega pixel) - although newer nokia's have better cameras (e.g. N-90 has a mind blowing camera) and Sony -Erricson's K750i has a much better camera but for the limited use that I have for this feature, it OK. Just avoid taking pics unless its brightly lit and also don't use the 4x zoom, and you will be fine. Video recording is also basic but could be useful when you are not carrying your bulky handy cam and just want to record something short (max 10 min of recording is possible)

Symbian features - the amount of FREE applications/ themes/ ringtones for Symbian phones out in Internet are mind

boggling and so 6670 being a Symbian phone is no exception. For example, using Quicksheet application, I can read a

Excel file and so I have put the extension numbers of whole of the company in a simple Excel file in my phone. Its

very handy when you are trying to call someone who is not likely to be in your address book

Good battery life - it has a 900mAh battery, much better than 700 mAh on 3230. Its a business phone and so Nokia

has put a business class battery. I run it for several days before I need to charge.

64 MB card - 3230 had only 32 MB and while it can be extended but who has the time and money to do it later!! 64 MB is fine for most users (as the only thing that takes space in phone is MP3 really and in this phone no body is likely to store hundreds of them (see the reason later under dislikes)

Comes with USB data cable (3230 doesn't) and so u are not dependent on Blue tooth alone.

Very exhaustive phone book (many many entries per person) and best of all I can edit all my contacts from the comfort of my PC. (this is a common feature in all Nokia symbian's)

Virtually unlimited storage for SMS's and address book entries (as long as you dont pack it up with MP3 and images!!)(this is a common feature in all Nokia symbian's)

Why I don't like about 6670

The audio output is MONO and the head set has only one earphone. I knew its Mono before buying but was at least

expecting a dual mono headset (i.e. two earphones with same sound) and was shocked to see a single earphone headset

in the sales pack AFTER I reached home. This makes the MP3 playing capabilties almost useless (I mean who wants to

listen to songs in one ear !!), you can play them on phone speaker but thats not so loud. MONO output would have

been on 3230 too but there b'cos of Radio, I would have got a dual earphone headset at least

No radio: I don't miss it in day to day life much but can be useful while travelling. 3230 has it.

The screen surface is very shiny, which looks good but gets dirty very quickly so after every phone call, I end up cleaning the screen with my shirt, LOL !!

Its somewhat slow during navigation- this is a problem with all entry level Symbian phones and unless u jack up your budget by at least 5K (INR), you are not going to get 6630 or 6681, which have faster CPU's which solves this problem (those two have stereo sound output too ,although Radio will still be missing. Nokia, being very smart, never puts all features in any one phone)

Nokia has not brought all their non-Symbian features to these smartphones yet and so a simple ''SMS Screenig'' option, which is there in my wife's cheapo 2300 is missing on my costly smartphone !! LOL..same is true for auto keypad lock but for that there are free applications available, so not so bad.

I was used to typing on my 5510, which had a full qwerty keyboard and so I still find it difficult to type in the convetional style of keypad which is threre in most phones. I wish there was a touch screen based keyboard (like Sony P800/900) but I do realize that that is a very high end feature. Thats why I do most of my typing in PC and sync it with phone (Meetings, contacts, SMS)

Why I choose Nokia

Well, as I said I needed powerful PC Sync feature and I was not getting good feedback from Sony or Samsung users about thier PC Software. Of course, I was an old Nokia user (even though the naviagation menu's of symbian phone are so different from tradional Nokia phones that it should not be a criteria (I mean I needed as much time to learn the navigation in this phone as I would have taken if I was a Sony or Sansung user earlier)

So, in summary - a Good value for money entry level smart phone for business use. 6600 is also a good value nowadays (as seen by the numbers in which they are selling) but 6670 still looks a bit exclusive and more trendy. If you are ana audiophile, stay away from this phone and look at Samsung E-760 (real cute phone) or higher end Nokia's like 6630/6681.
