Hello friends,

I was thinking of buying a mobile phone from past three weeks, and everytime I would manage to shortlist some, some new mobiles would come into picture. Finally, I went to some 3-4 showrooms in Bangalore and saw all the models, and enquired their prices.

After about 3 weeks, I finally shortlisted three mobile phone: Nokia 6600, Nokia 6230 and samsung E700. All the three are really great phones.... but somehow I had always liked Nokia 6600 from the beginning of my hunt for mobiles. But three weeks ago, when I had enquired, it was priced between 20000 to 22000 Rupees. But after the budget and also some dealers give it off for pretty less. I got my 6600 for as low as Rs.16550 two days back.

The moment I had it in my hand and the dealer switched it on for me..(as this is my first one...), I was really amazed with the clarity and colour on the screen, and not to forget the screen size itself... It has 176X208 resolution. Thats same as the 3650 or 3660 from Nokia. But comparatively a lot smaller. Though the mobile is wide near the top, but that too insignificant when compared to its features.

This gizmo (as my brother calls it) contains Symbian OS, which takes about 15 seconds to switch on from Off state. But once on, it is as easy as eating a cake.... The user interface is too good and easy to use. Lot of options are available at hand.. Of course since this is my first mobile, I had to read the manual to find out what key does what...

The first day, I got it I kept it for charging, while going through the manual. About 30-40% of battery was only available. But to my surprise, the remaining 60-70% of the battery was charged up in just flat 2hours....That was really amazing. That too, during the charging, I was continuously exploring the features and after abt 2 hours, it displayed a message ''Batter charge Full''.

The main attraction of this mobile is its camera and video recorder.... Camera is really great. It has three modes: standard, portrait and night. plus three quality measures: basic, normal or high. I have clicked so many pictures , and all have come great. My family, colleagues all have loved the clarity of the images. Talking about the video recorder, I was really amazed with it. My brother for a test just tried it out on me, and I sang a song, and he recorded it. When he played it back, it opened Real One Player, which surprised me. Coz I couldn't believe that this mobile actually had it. And once the video was playing, it surprised me further. The clarity was good, and the sound was clear. You can actually set the volume of the loudspeaker.

The menu options are really neat and easy to access. The messaging option is great. Its user interface was really easy for me, and it gives u multiple menus to select the type of messages (text, MMS or email). The predictive text feature is also great, it actually eases one's work of typing.... I didn't know how to do it...but my brother and my colleague taught me how to do it... But now I am only into messaging.

Another best feature, I liked was that of the contact... It is loaded with features.. Per person, it allows me to store their first name, last name, company, job title, telephone, telephone (home and business), mobile, mobile(home and business), pager, fax, fax (home and business), email, email (home and business), web address, web address( home and business), address, address (home and business), DTMF, birthday, notes. So totally 26 fields of information per person.... Now who needs an organizer!!!!!

Initially, I had a problem with finding out where the ring tones are, but later as I explored you have loads of them. And you can change them for each person in ur contacts, or in general for everybody, using the profiles option in the menu.

There are a lot of applications packed with the additional 32 MB memory. So this phone has 4 MB + 32 MB (complementary) = 36MB of memory....And the applications packaged with this are: Ulead photoexpress, Ulead videostudio, Quickword and many more.. Another thing I found out while exploring was that this babe (as I would like to refer it as), come with an e-book of StarTrek. This e-book is like any other e-book downloadable on ones computer, and include somewhere around 12-13 chapters.

It has got nice set of 4 inbuilt themes and additional ones can be downloaded. The default wallpaper is really beautiful... There are various ways one can connect to the rest of the worl from this Babe.. U can call using the mobile, send SMS, internet - using GPRS, connect to remote bluetooth enable devices using the bluetooth in-built, connect to laptops or other mobiles(that support infrared) using infrared, or use data cable to connect to ur PC.

This babe also comes with a 1 year theft insurance and 2 years of extended warranty.

Maybe the only problem with this mobile is the non-availability of the mobile pouches to keep the mobile. and maybe it lacks FM RAdio. But I am not complaining....

The battery is very good, as the normal Nokia phones have ( what I have heard!!), this one discharged upto 40% on day1, with extensive use of video camera and video recorder, and other features,as I was showing off to all my friends.. But the second day (i.e today) it is still on full charge, even after sending around 5-6 SMS, receiving around 15 SMS, calling up my friends and parents for about 5 minutes each, and plus showing off to my other friends....

The infrared also works fine, as me and my brother tested it out... My brother has a Samsung S500 and we managed to transfer a contact card from his to mine and vice versa... But unfortunately, it didn't work for Video, image or sound clips... I don't know, maybe it may work with other 6600s

So overall, I would say this is a great mobile and offers all the features one would want to have.....My colleagues, who have had other nokia phone, after seeing mine were thinking of changing it to a 6600
