I guess, enough is said about Nokia 6600 and its features. Everyone is raving about 6600, its symbian OS, its camera, etc but there are a few glitches that must be known and kept in mind.
To start with, I would love to have a FM tuner with the phone, such a fantastic all in one and no FM ??!!!!!!
2) the handsfree coming with the phone is a MONO handsfree !!!!! (there is a work around though - use a handsfree of a 6510 and u got true stereo sound)
3) I have heard it cant support more than 256MB MMC Card (this is ridiculous). If it could support more capacity cards, imagine what all you could do with the symbian OS.
4) the first lot of the phones are known to have some issues with the phone, these however can be sorted out with a nokia service centre,
5) the video camera will not allow more than 10 - 15 secs of video !!!!
6) the phone also tends to get slow as you use it and has to be restarted to get back in shape !!!!???? (Microsoft - is anyone listening ????)
7) all bluetooth activity happens as messages thereby making it impossible to save the downloads elsewhere for lot of filetypes.
i guess these are the major flaws I have found till now since the time I have borrowed the phone from my sis [must be 4 weeks now - thank sis :)]
I AM NOT SAYING THIS IS A BAD BUY.
This is the BEST BUY from the NOKIA stable till date (28-Oct-2004).The 7610 also is not as good as 6600. It has some major flaws compared to 6600. :)
the reason for it being the best buy is simple. Almost all its flaws have a way around them, but most of us users never know about it or dont bother to find out. I dunno a lot of power users who really use all the features of their phone well ...
The phone has a symbian OS, so applications can be loaded on it, their installer files have a ''.sis'' extension. Here are a few of them, add an mp3 player, a ebook reader and an answering machine application to start with add advanced file explorer applications to enable better control of your space
add a software which will save the messages received from bluetooth elsewhere (the beauty is that only the attached file is saved) add an video recording software which will do away with the 10 sec handicap
A lot more can be done with the phone, you name it and most of the times its possible.
I surely recommend the phone but only for people who want to carry the bulk and make good use of it.
