Hi I am Anand. I am a very proud owner and lover of NOKIA 6600.I would like to share with all the readers of Mouth Shut.com on how cool the NOKIA 6600 really is and this material is meant for beginners too.I have provide a few advices and a few tips on how to improve upon your 6600 and give it its true potential.I wouldnt say that I am a total expert with the 6600 but I have been using it for the past 1 year(its as good as new even now) and I am just sharing my sincere thoughts and ideas.I have also mentioned where to get cool softwares free of charge.

The Exterior:
I feel that it is one of the most beautiful mobiles that Nokia has released. It looks so chubby, cute and innocent. The key pad has been designed so that you can easily operate the phone with one hand without giving your fingers an ache.One thing I feel is missing is a cover to the camera lens.Since it cant be changed they should have provided a sliding lid or something.But hey mine camera lens is not damaged and I dont think yours will be either, unless you go to extremes.The battery life is long too.
The real cool features inside:
The 6600 is like a mini computer. Sotwares is what make 6600 come to life.You can install a wide variety of symbian softwares. You have to use atleast a 256MB memory card and install softwares to really enjoy the stout cutie.(Dont use 1GB Mem card coz it makes the mobile go real slow.I have tried it.)More over you can use the memory card to hold computer files if you have got a card reader or blue tooth dongle connected to you computer. Many inbuilt features like calender,extra user-handy softwares, contacts with multiple entry and contact profile with changeable call response and Copy and Paste function are really brilliant in making life easy for the millions of 6600 users.
Let me enlighten you about the different types of softwares available for the 6600.
Entertainment:
music:
there are a wide variety of mp3 playing softwares like Ultra MP3, MP3Go,Mp3 Player etc. I stick to Ultra MP3 coz of its cool user interface and simplicity.Easy to edit play list etc. Some of these softwares also have equalizers.
Videos:
The most widely accepted video player is the Smart Movie player. You can play .avi files.There are others like the WMA player, MPEG player.etc.
Games:
You can download and play from a million available really cool games. You can even play NCAGE games in 6600 (but they are really big in size like around 10MB.). But there are many real cute small games which could get you involved for hours.
Themes:
There are uncountable downloadable themes that you can choose based on your variant tastes.You have the freedom to design your own themes as well.
Connectivity:
You've got blue-tooth and IR connectivity options. Blue-tooth is really cool and IR sucks.
Bluetooth: To connect to you PC via blue-tooth you must have a blue tooth dongle(adapter) connected to the USB port of your PC. Using different softwares you can chat with a near by blue-tooth equiped mobile or PC ,send and receive files play multi-player games etc. If your mobile service has got GPRS, then you can use it as a modem for your PC. Like wise, if you have got internet connection on your PC you can browse the net with your 6600,(however the latter step is a little complicated.)
IR: There are softwares that let you use your mobile phones as remote controller to almost any kind of device within a short radius (5-6mts max.). You can use the mobile as a modem for your PC however to connect to your PC you must have an IR adapter connected to the USB port of the PC.
Screen Savers:
you have a variety of screen saver of unbelievable beauty.Its just like the screen savers on your PC.
Photo, Video and Sound Editing:
You can edit the photos u have some thing like Photo shop. you can edit Videos and Sounds as well.
Talking Alarms and dictionary:
Some softwares reads out to your messages, reads out words from in built multi-lingual dictionaries, and even say the time as alarms.
Application Softwares:
There are so many different application softwares even I dont know.But here are a few of them I am familiar with.
Notepad:
the same as that on your computer.
Connectivity softwares:
They help you connect to other mobiles and chat and play multiplayer sessions.You can use your mobile phone as a Remote control.
Voice Answering Machine:
Thats right!! you can use ur 6600 as an Answering machine by asking the caller to leave a message (which will be recorded) when you are busy. Even like the one in offices where you have different choices when you press different numbers.Or you can send a engaged tone when some one unwanted is calling or mute for certain callers or completely ignore them.Set different profiles for different class of callers.So that each profile will receive a different response when called.
File handling softwares:
The inbuilt file manager is a waste. You cant hide folders or set as readonly etc.But there are softwares like SeleQ with which you an do all the above mentioned and more.You can also restart the phone without pressing the power button.
File compressors:
Just like in the PC there are 6600 compactible softwares like Zip and winrar to compress your bigger files.
Net Browsers:
The inbuilt browser is a waste.You have softwares like NetFront and Opera that is very similar to Internet Explorer, very user friendly and advanced yet simple.
Anti-Virus:
There are possbilities of virus attacks when using blue-tooth to connect to strange mobiles.But there are anti-virus softwares that are updated to fight the attack.
Make 6600 produce original sounds:
The inbuilt sounds are not very realistic when playing .mid ringtones.You can load certain files onto phone memory to make them sound very original but they are kind off large.
Recording Softwares
Unlimited video recording with sound:
Inbuilt software only allows you to record for 9secs. But such softwares as Philips Camcorder let you record videos with sounds as long as your memory card size permits.You can control the contrast,colour or brightness and quality of your recording too.
Great Quality Photo Softwares:
The inbuilt camera produces images of size 680480 of 20-40KB.But with softwares like Photo Acute you can produce unbelievably clear image of size 1280960 of 200-400KB.
WebCam:
Certain softwares allows you to use your phone camera as a web cam for your PC (quality is compromised).
