Have been using this phone for the last 5 months.

First Impresion

The phone looks very good, with an all metallook. The silver and black contrast looks good. I read some people

write that the phone looks similar to 3230. Looking at the photos may give you that impression, but let me tell you that’s not true when you see the phone up close, in front of you. The similarity is just to the

extent of the black and silver combination. This one looks much better.

The phone feels excellent to grip, with no creaking sound even if you press it hard. It is of just the right height, width and depth. I am

not too fond of short phone as I don’t find it comfortable to to hold it against my ear. The length of 6300 is just about perfect for me.

As soon as you turn on the phone, you are greeted by the

magnificent 16.7 million colour screen. The colours are bright and vivid with excellent reproduction of colours. It has a QVGA resolution which makes browsing through pictures a delight. The pictures come to

alive on this beautiful screen. I was using a Moto V3i before this which had a very competent screen to. But when you compare it with 6300, the latter wins by a big margin because of its brightness and

above all…clarity.

It has 64 chord polyphony, so the ringtones sound pretty good. Not

the best I have head, but still quite decent, and better than V3i. Thebass is slightly more and the overall sound is more dynamic.

User Interface*

Nokia have done a very good job with the latest release of series 40 3rd Edition. This is the first series 40 phone that I’ve ever bought. I am a big fan of the symbian based series 60 and 2 of my previous phones (nokia 3650 and 6681) were symbian. But nokia has

improved the series 40 interface a great deal and I really don’t miss the serie 60 interface anymore. And the biggest advantage that series 40 phones have over series 60 is SPEED. Let me tell you that I have used many phones in the past and I am sure this is the fastest that I have ever used.

Keypad

The keypad is very good with very good tactile feedback. The D pad and the foursoftkeys are even better.

Reception is typical Nokia like, i.e excellent. Again slightly better than V3i.

Issues:*

Battery Life: The battery lasts for about 1.5 - 2 days

No Screen Brightness adjuster even with the latest firmware

Headphones are not of the best quality (bass is lacking but clarity is quite decent)

Relatively Poor Camera Quality: There is a lot of noise in the pictures,

especially indoor. The outdoor pics are better with decent colour

reproduction.

The pics

look better on the phone screen than on the computer, again thanks to

the brilliant screen.

Overall: I am quite satisfied with this phone. If you are not a heavy user, this phone is an excellent buy at its price
