Firstly, the picture of the mobile attached to this review section is not that of the Nokia 6270 but it is of the Nokia 6111.

I decided to buy the Nokia 6270 for its two specific features i.e. the aluminum casing and the stereo speakers.

The phone is a very sturdy phone and does weigh more than the other phones but I guess this is due to the aluminum casing.

The phone has a good 262K colour screen with a resolution of 320 x 240 pixels, the 6270 scores high in display.

The camera is a 2-megapixel camera with full screen landscape mode and dedicated camera key with 5x digital zoom and integrated camera flash. Still photos in daylight are good but you cannot say the same about the quality of still photos shot in lesser light even though you use the flash.

Comes with Music player and stereo FM radio. However, the music player has got poor audio quality.

Nokia 6270 operates on GSM 850/900/1800/1900 MHz networks, and offers EDGE and GPRS for high-speed data transfers. A WAP 2.0 browser, two included games in 3D Snake and Golf Tour, as well as operator-dependent features such as Push-To-Talk and Visual Radio. The 6270 also supports MP3 and polyphonic ringtones, SMS and MMS messages, in addition to sporting Bluetooth, Infrared and USB via Pop Port as connectivity options.

512 MB MiniSD card is included

Size: Weight: 125 g (with battery) Dimensions: 104 x 50 x 23 mm, 104 cc

I have decided to change my Nokia 6270 within 14 days of buying it due to the following reasons:

  1. If you download a ringtone and set that as your ringtone – the sound jars the moment your phone rings as the music player is pathetic.

  2. The battery is pathetic as it does not give more than 1 to 1.25 hours of talktime.

  3. The PC Suite provided with the phone is a Version 6 which is outdated as per Nokia Careline and one has to download the Version 6.8. This is so even though the date of manufacture on the Box is given as April 2006.

  4. When you synchronize your phone with your PC and copy the phone book onto your PC – it does not transfer more than two or three numbers per contact on an arbitrary basis. You do not realize this till you transfer the data back to another Nokia Phone. I have lost almost 50% of my contacts due to this as I had stored upto five numbers per name.
