That is enough of hard data about the phone. Let us now come to the functionality part of it. The Nokia 6265 is strictly a CDMA phone [not GSM] and works at 800/1900 MHz. The phone is quite light for its size and dimensions compared to similar phones in its class. With a thickness of 22mm this phone can not be called ultra slim like some of the Motorola cousins.

The QVGA display with active matrix 240x320 pixels is quite crisp and clear with a large viewing area. Another interesting feature is the landscape mode feature for the camera. Nokia has incorporated this feature to give the phone the feel of a digital camera and help in taking better pictures. Like most other phones the Nokia 6265 has a 4-way scroll key with centre select key. The 2 mega pixel camera comes with 4x optical zoom. This is quite good though I am not a big fan of digital zoom, for the real zoom lies in optical zooms.

Then again until mobile phones come with optic zoom a digital zoom will suffice. The camera supports still, sequential and video modes of capture. It has various shooting modes and settings such as brightness control and night mode. Fun frames is yet another interesting feature that lets you superimpose decorative frames onto the snaps that you take.

This feature makes MMS more exciting. On the media front , the speakers are quite good for music playback and sound decent. The phone has a players for video and audio files. It supports Mpeg4 and H264 video at 15 fps [frames per second] and MP3 and eAAC+ audio . FM radio is also integrated into the mobile. The speaker phone is an excellent feature and a wonderful hands free option. The sensitivity of the mic in speaker phone mode is quite impressive, giving the phone a minimal multi party conferencing option.

Nokia 6265 comes with a built in memory of 24 MB and a mini SD slot which Nokia says supports up to 1 GB. There are chances that the phone might support a 2 GB mini SD but don't take my word for it, most of these do. Nokia has the hot swap option for the SD in this phone for easy insertion and removal of the card. The photos and the music can be stored on the Mini SD and later backed up to the PC using the Nokia PC Suite.

The Nokia PC Suite is freely available for download on the Nokia Site or comes along with the phones Installation disc. There are third party phone manager software's available but for regular and ease of use the Nokia PC Suite would be the best recommendation. Messaging is via MMS and SMS with a size up to 600K. The messaging interface also comes with predictive text input to make messaging easy. Since the display is big and bright messaging is fun with lots of space to type bold and clear. The phone has a few games and applications pre installed. More can be added according to our liking as the phone supports Java applications and games.

On the connectivity side the phone supports cable, IR and Bluetooth, it also has a Pop-Port Interface for other nokia accessories. Internet browsing is possible via the built in WAP browser, but don't expect very high browsing speeds. The phone supports 500 contacts and also has voice activated dialling. Unlike the flip type Nokia 6255 CDMA the 6265's has a slider design, the greatest advantage is that it can be operated with one hand. The flips generally had an option of a bigger screen compared to the bar types. With the entry of the sliders the screen sizes have considerably increased. Another wonderful feature for the artistically inclined users is the themes option in the phone giving you the option to add themes to your liking. So on the whole this is a very good phone considering the limited models available on the CDMA front.

Positive: A good phone with a lot of features bundled in. Has everything and more that what a normal to power user might need. Good battery backup and a good and innovative design to save space. Keyboard is quite large for easy dialling and the camera is good in its class.

Negative: The aesthetics are not very appealing and the phone looks rather boxy. WiFi would have been a good addition to the feature list, but then again this is not a pure business phone like the Nokia "N's" so this is not a major constraint.

Verdict: If you are a CDMA user looking for an upgrade from phones like the Nokia 6255 or the Nokia 6155 this is a very good option and worth the buy. If you are a GSM user then it is not worth changing to CDMA for this phone as you get much better Nokia's for the same price.
