Well readers,

I bought a new Nokia 6030 4 days ago.... And I would like to give you my objective views/experiences with this cell so far...

When I first went to the showroom, I was definitely going with the intention to buy a Nokia because of the reliability factor... Having owned the famed 2300 before and had enough good experiences on it, I knew it was a time to upgrade... My budget was low... Sub 5k... So I told him to show me all Nokia colour sets in that range... He pulled out the 2310,2610,6030,6060... Of the four, 2310,2610 were otu as they were basic and a bit too gawky looking...

Of the 6060 and 6030, there was little to differentiate, the main one being that 6060 was a flip model and with no radio and the 6030 had a radio but no flip... Both have exactly the same software and finish... The reason why I rejected the 6060 was that it was too flashy and since I don't wear my ego on my shoulder, it wouldn't suit... Of course, that doesn't mean I didn't like it... I recommended one to my better half!!! Well... It worked... she has a 6060 now....

Coming back to the 6030... Nokia over the years has been in the firing line for a poor product range and slightly below par on the features front, considering that they're a bit more expensive that their contemporaries in any given price band.... So, they put their heads together and what do you get?

The 6030 is able competition to all the colour mobiles within the 4k range... Featuring a 65k colour display and polyphonic ringtones, it does not lack graphics or sound quality... It is able to support mp3 based ring tones, though I have to test this out before I can comment on it... It comes with a USB data cable port so as to enable transfer of data between the handset and a computer... The quality of the radio is very good and the bass effect of the stereo headphones has to be appreciated as they are really good... The contacts details are advanced, by allowing full scale details to each and every contact with seperate slots for home and office mobile as well as landline nos...

Now, with all the features do come certain faults... Here I enlist them point wise...

  • Slow software,... Yes, the 6030 does have marginally slow software(albeit excellent quality) compared to the motorola and sony-ericsson comtemporaries... The quality of software doesn't suffer though....

    • It does not come with a compatible data cable and one has to risk getting it from the grey market(if one is dying for data transfers!!!)

    • 2.2 MB memory is too low for a handset of this level... Add to that, no facility for a data card addition...

Yet, in spite of all these little problems, it is a very good basic cell fom the production line of Nokia... There is little cause for complaint for those who want a simple yet marginally sophisticated handset... The black model is certainly more in vogue and definitely a sleek and sexy looker....

To all those who want to buy this handset, I"d say go for it... It comes with Nokia backup and reliability... And also the ease of use and price factor....

Do take a second and rate my review....
