This was my first expensive phone and also a smart phone. I am not a Nokia lover and I have hopped from Sony ericcson to Motorola to Samsung to Samsung to Nokia. This phone is really good but the price was on the higher side, given it PLASTIC looks. INR 18900. May 2009.

On Sept 22nd I dropped the phone into a bucket full of water and it drowned. Slipped to coma and fianally dead. What I could save was only the memory card & its contents. I was grieving for 3 weeks without buying a new mobile. Three days After diwali offers & hype was over(Ironically), I walked into a Nokia Priority dealer and bought a new 5800 at INR13300. My dead instrument is stoved into the package and kept safe for any future organ transfers.

I never had any isues with the phone except occasional hang ups. I simply remove the battery to reset the condition the phone works. If many applications open simultaneously this guy cannot handle and hangs up.

I was breaking my head how Nokia would drop prices on a good product. I am sure Samsung corby or Start is a good reason. However there were some sensible explanations from the dealer. Lot of accessories & features unused by customers were removed, this include the TV play feature & AV cable, GPS License for three months.

But for the plastic feel the phone is fantanstic in what it can offer and I have even accidentaly dropped the new phone last sunday from a height of 4 feet on granite bitumen road. No dents no scratches seen on it today; I was lucky this time.

Music playing is its forte. Menu Navigation has few hurdles and you do not need more than 10 mins to understand this if you can read this review. My sons aged 7 & 9 use the phone deftly usig the friendly GUI. I have never used the Navigation and unable to comment. The phone sits in your palm grip comfortably and hides in the shirt pocket fully unlike the E63 or E71which are slim but broad. Battery back up is for three days or even more with voice calls only. Unless you game or do music the power pack can support you for a week.

This is not a phone to show off as it looks plasticky for the price we give. However I regard this as a functional phone doing the given duty. One more item you like in this is the big screen and the web browser with wi-fi connection possibility. What is missing is the document viewer. Day time Photos and videos are decent enough, For Low light Flash is not that effective after all this is not a camera!

At INR 10000 it will be real value for money.
