I desperately wanted to change My Nokia 6600, which had become bit slow now. So the search started and like always I never wanted to buy an expensive phone. This is my personal feeling.

I had zeroed for Nokia only as in past never found me comfortable with other brands like Motorola, Samsung and Sony. My earlier Nokia phone never took me to service centre and hope this will also behave the same way.

We looked for various models and then the salesman showed Nokia 5800 Xpress Music. Frankly I was not interested in music phone as I prefer to use I pod for this purpose. But look wise it attracted me with its big 3.2” screen. When explained that it was a touch phone, I was not comfortable to buy this.

Salesman was not aware of features; it seemed that he was also handling for the first time. Later he admitted and told that its first time for everyone in shop. My smart daughters took over it from him and started exploring the menu.

When I handled and used the touch screen operations, I was impressed with the response. Frankly without knowing much we bought it. Same night we explored for various features and were happy for making a good decision. Some of features were known after using it for 3-4 days.

Features I like:

Its 3.2” screen has very good resolution and is extraordinary while watching video.

Ability to rotate the picture, messages or menu. Everything gets rotated except the slide show set on screen.

Ease of use with standard Nokia features.

Effective touch pad. Availability of small key board, full key board and hand writing.

Hand writing recognition is good and you need not to delete the characters frequently.

Message color text for cool look. I

If you are receiving any call during meeting, just turn it face down and it gets silent. But this feature is not active for music player otherwise it would have been problematic.

8 GB memory, large enough to store media of choice. Phone comes preloaded with 100 Hindi and 100 English songs.

Excellent sound quality even without head phones. You feel the stereo effect.

If one is busy in meeting and can not attend call. Just press the message icon and “Sorry, I will call you later” is delivered to caller.

Apart from stylus, it comes with plectrum which saves you from taking out stylus every time. Call reception quality is very good. Auto lock feature of screen is good and quick.

Features I don’t like.

Camera quality of 3.2 mp is not good in night photography

Zoom of camera is also not very effective.

Some time during video recording, I face the problem of continuity break and this happens in playback also.

Battery back up is not excellent.

But I have fallen in love with this phone and it has been appreciated by my friends using I mate, HTC or other higher versions of Nokia. I am satisfied with its use. It’s a good buy for 19, 000/-
