Nokia 5500 Sport, I was crazy about because it promised many of the features I dreamt of. As soon as it was launched I purchased it with much difficulty and effort from Noida on 27 Sept. 2006. And I was overjoyed and proud to possess it after paying the hefty m.r.p. of Rs 18k. My dream machine started behaving erratically very soon and sorry to say it has broken my heart totally.
My first shock was the Web services I enjoyed so much on my earlier Nokia 3230 were simply non-accessible on 5500. When I contacted AIRTEL repeatedly for the settings, the call centre admitted they donot have the settings for Nokia 5500. So I discontinued my GRPS connection and learnt to live without web browsing.
My second shock was when by October 2006 end, the Phone feature stopped. No Network leaving me to lots of inconvenience, and since then, everyone must know it, the phone fault has been already repaired 3 times by Nokia Care(HCL) and today I have handed it over 4th time with my repeated request to HCL Manager to replace this defective piece.
Unfortunately when I expected assistance and cooperation from Nokia for replacement and report it on website, see, I simply cant register my complaint against the Bad product with Nokia. Even no mailing address of Nokia's local Delhi office is available. Maybe the concerned people know it but general public does not.
I am using this Forum to highlight my experience and suffering at the hands of Nokia 5500 Sport which has admirable features for a sports enthusiast like me, but sadly it is a FAILED PRODUCT. The 3-in-1 concept of Phone+Music Player cum Fm+sports has totally failed. If one is working the others hang. The rubber cover is pathetic.
In all these years I had wonderful experience with my Nokia 3230 and even satisfied with Nokia 6030 which I purchased when 5500 was absent for many weeks But what a Pity Nokia 5500 Sport.
Please do not even think of considering buying it.
And if any Nokia authorities happen to read this review, then, please, for God's sake, replace my handset. I wonder when a battery of 6030 can give quite good performance why this pricey 5500 is so bad.
Nokia must admit this Handset has failed and if they are honest about their dream concept, then, must improve this version immediately.
