Value for Money:

On a rainy evening in June 2008, I saw this'black-body" sibbling of Nokia at a local outlet. Price at that time was a whopping 9.8K. But I was thrilled by its music reproduction and display. so, after some hesitation, I forked out that money to get that lady-love.

But as a photo-freak, I was totally disappointed by its photo capturing ability. Though, 5310 technically has a 2MP digicam, its results are pathetic. Even my 6600 with a VGA cam performs much better. Its vdos r terrible on a computer screen.

But after the purchase of N79(5 MP camera) but with feeble sound I realized that it was a business ploy of Nokia to create three segments 1. Music Phones(Worst photo-VDO), 2. Photo Phones like N 79(with passable audio output), 3. Business phone(primarily for net surfing with deliberate lowering of audio & Photo-VDO quality)

But with time, 5310 grew upon me. I learnt the finer points of that mobile. It got an excellent battery back-up, puts least weight on the pocket of my shirt, sound is gorgeous. The best feature of 5310 is the distribution of its intuitive menus. One can put a reminder on the screen. the screen also provide sms & missed call alert with the photo of the respective caller(provided his/her mob number is tagged with photo inside 5310)

On SMS front, u can add a favourite, msg the recent caller/sms'er's - boon for a sms freak like me. The display is superb - no prob in viewing in day light. "Go to" tab actually speeds up a major portion of the user-commands. So, one can easily use the regular features like "bluetooth, alarm" etc.

The other thing it falls short is the size of memory card - 1 GB small by today's standard. Of course one can add upto 4 GB micro-sd memory card to 5310. But in that case, the pre-installed progs and games will not be available.

I never used GPRS feature of 5310 as GPRS is an elusive and expensive service for the users of BSNL, West Bengal circle.

With a hefty reduction of price of 5310 and addition of an extra pair of extremely sweet yet powerful set of stereo speakers in the box is an added attraction of 5310.

Even then now I would strife for Samsung which earnestly tries to bridge all three main features i.e. Music+Phot+Business. with lower prices, better battery lives than ever, Samsung got an array of mobiles which give buyers better value for their money
