After dealing with my Samsung T209 phone for over a year and having nothing but dropped calls, I just gave up on the phone.  The CSR for my cell phone suggested that the problem might be the battery and if I want, I can place an order for a replacement.  The battery runs around 20 - 30 USD and it might not solve my problems of dropped calls, so I sucked it up and went ahead and purchase this phone.

I will admit that I am not a cell phone junkie, upgrading every 6 to 12 months.  For a female, I don't even talk that much lol and most of my friends have things to do and so do I.  So I picked this phone basically of it's features.  The main reason why I picked this phone was that it had a built in mp3 player.  Since I take public transportation to work, this was a must.  I hate listening to other people's inane conversation or obnoxiously talking loudly on the phone for the most idiotic reasons or something that should have been made private(as you can see, where I live people lack phone etiquette sigh).  I didn't even care that the phone had a built-in camera since most cell phone cameras take one of the worst pictures and many can't handle picture in different lighting conditions.  So I purchase the phone through my carrier, without extending my contract.  The reason why is I don't feel like being locked in a contract for additional two years, therefore extending my contract with my carrier for three years.

When I got my phone, I was surprised they delivered it so soon.  So I opened it up and charged it.  I merely glanced at the phone manual since I hate reading manuals and I am pretty good at figuring things out.  What I liked about the phone is that there is several network connectivity options for the phone.  One is the ever popular Bluetooth, the second is USB connection, and the third is via infrared.  To this date, I haven't figured out how to use it but frankly I really doubt I need it at the moment.  I downloaded the software suite for this phone to make transferring of music files and contact lists and for me it was sort of a pain installing but I guess I was overanxious.  It comes with a lot of applications the Nokia suite and apparently you can sync the phone with MS Outlook.  Mind you I have MS Office 2007 running on Windows XP home edition and I synced my contacts, reminders, notes, etc on the phone with minimal problems.

When it came down to transferring music to my phone, I did run into a hurdle but that was totally my doing.  Basically I had to set up the connection on the phone and on my laptop.  My laptop already has a Bluetooth adapter built in, so basically I had to turn it on.   This phone supports .mp3, *.aac, *.m4a, and I believe *.wma but don't quote me on that.  I know the software nearly choked when it was given a file format to convert into aac, which I selected to fit the most music.  But it was no big deal.  When converting and transferring files, either via BT or USB, it seems pretty slow but it was expected since I was transferring 300 songs.  I currently have 300 songs on my phone and I have more that 500 MB on the 1GB microSD card it came it.  Unfortunately the max you can fit here is 2GB.  To me that is too small *lol.  Can you tell  I love music? lol

Another thing that surprised me is that it came with a radio.  The earbuds that came with the phone acts as a antenna so if you try to listen to the radio without it, it won't work.  The phone also comes with an adapter jack if you want to upgrade the earbuds, which is recommended IMO.  The sound quality is alright but I want new headphones.  I dislike earbuds a lot so I am in search of a new one.  On this phone, you can watch videos but you have to covert it, install applications and a variety of things.

As a phone it is okay.  My calls dropped less frequently so I am happy about that.  What I don't like about the phone is the following: people on the other line complain that I am not loud enough or I am too static-ky.  Another thing is that volume is not set as one, meaning if I have it loud in phone mode, it might be soft in music mode.  Another thing is that it is a power hog but I changed the settings to increase the battery life and turn off the phone at night.  The first one is a major problem and I might exchange it so hopefully that would rectify the situation.

In conclusion I like this phone but I hope they(Nokia) would bring the beefed up version of it stateside.
