I bought a Nokia 5200 on 30-12-06 and display cracked on 20-01-07. The mobile looks absolutely new, there was absolutely no product abuse or misuse. It was really taken care of very well. It was in my jean pocket and when I took it out the display had cracked.
I have had many mobiles earlier, they endured, but the display of the Nokia 5200 is so fragile that it is really not worth buying it. I bought the mobile at Jainsons, Mylapore, Chennai, I took it there but was turned away as if I had gone there begging. Took it to Nokia Service Centre and there they said they would not want to hear anything, spoke to their call centre but to no avail. The service centre told me that the display would cost Rs 4000 about half the cost of the mobile and would take more than a month to be replaced. The product is in the market for over three months now and yet the spares availability is poor.
An interesting observation, while I was at the service centre for an hour and half there were two other customers with faulty Nokia 5200 one had faulty speaker and the other a faulty camera.
I urge the readers to evaluate this model before buying as it is very poor in reliability and durability and seems to have many other associated problems. ramsay_b@yahoo.com
