Since the new players started picking up in the market, and eating into the Nokia market, Nokiathought about a new marketing strategy ? 1 year insurance, with 2 year warranty on all its sets. But is it really worth it?

Nokia sells great mobiles, but loosing one is a nightmare, and a great sin, for which they make you go through severe repentance. I am a Nokia loyal user, however recent developments have made me think about it. Recently I lost my dear Nokia 3610 (I really liked it, for a first time user, it is a delight), and had to go through a lot, to get the insurance company ACCEPT the application for loss. If anybody is aware (which I surely was not) that there are more than one type of FIRs. The normal FIR that you are given, is not acceptable by the insurance company, they need more. And they have kept the clause to make it all the more difficult for common people to attain one, unless you work in the police force, or have a real close connection.

This was not the end, since it was just the application that had been accepted at the front desk, and not yet been forwarded to the insurance company, which had to find loopholes in the application, and excuses for not giving the refund. Every week I receive a mail from the insurance company citing errors and missing attachments, that they require to ?receive at one go so that they can process the insurance claim at their earliest?. No sooner do I reply to their mails, I get a similar mail back.

This has become an irritant and probably it is a part of their strategy ? stretch the matter so long that people would forget about it and you won?t have to spare with your money. Why does the company has to advertise such a thing, if they never mean to honor it? They are probably loosing their customer base to companies who provide a better a technology than theirs, or a better ?after sales? support.

And I am still waiting;

  1. In hopes that ONE day I would get my insurance claim

  2. The next letter from the insurance company
