The Nokia 3230 is a good buy for someone who wants a reasonalble smart phone without spending money for the latest cutting edge functionality. Its a middle of the middle line device that has the usual Nokia reliability - battery, network and durability going for it. Throw in the Symbian operating system (an older version), a great big screen, a camera with unlimited video recording, FM radio, expandable memory,
Blue tooth and Nokia PC Suite connectivity options and you get the 3230. All of this at a great price is what I like about it. I frequently connect it to my notebook and it wonderfully synchronizes contacts and calender entries like meetings, appointments and other data with MS Outlook. Thats why I have taken the liberty of calling it a smart phone. It has all the bells and whistles but what it lacks is the refinement. Its a little slow in getting things done.
Unless you are tech-freak you can live comfortably live with this 'cause it is designed, positioned and consequently priced liked this. Nokia marketers have fine tuned this art of acquainting you with these new technologies and then pulling you up to more capable 'read higher margin' models by enticing you to upgrade. In reality you don't need to spend some 20k on an N series just yet - 3230 does most stuff. What is seriously lacking is stereo music player support which may convince a music buff to look at maybe a Sony Ericsson walkman phone. Nokia phones don't come close as serious music phones.
