My good ol' 3315 became way too dizzy to be supported by pirated batteries. Instead of investing in a new Nokia Battery, I decided to get this phone. My reaction really is mixed. Tech Specs are pretty straightforward (https://europe.nokia.com/A4145051 ). Nothing great here. Has almost everything you'd really need (except perhaps 3G, the biggest mobile-tech buzzword of today). The Candybar form factor phone runs on Symbian60 7.0S. Latest (available in India) Firmware is 5.0604.0 dtd. 23-01-06 (RM-51). Battery is BL-5B Li-Ion (760 mAh). The phone IS slow and pretty basic software are loaded. But after I threw some themes at the fairly impressive display (64K on 176 x 208-pixel resolution) from free sites like https://phone.mobile9.com/nokia/3230/ or https://4urmobilephone.com/themes/nokia-3230-themes.html it looked pretty okay! Not a mean machine by any standard. The FM Radio sucks, the call waiting feature in my phone doesn't give any beep (Nokia Service says "it comes like that"!!!), comes with only a 32 MB RS-MMC and opening the back-cover sometimes can be hard work. Get some utilities like Full Screen Caller, Call Cheater, McAfee AV, Alarm Manager, Smart DV (for enhancing a run-of-the-mill camera), Call Recorder, R Viewer, AppMan, ExtendedLog, PWNotes, sProfiles, PWDictaphone, FExplorer ( http://www.gosymbian.com ): this last one is a must-have utility and the best part of it is that its free unlike its precedents in the list. A few good Sudokus are also available for free on the net. The connectivity features are fairly good and I like the symmetry of the candybar. Do not forget to enable the call time counter and summary display after calls which Nokia doesn't enable by default (possibly b'coz there is a error in the counter- it never tallies with your opeartor's). The phone's is mono and is NOTrecommended to carry your music around in. The sound really sucks bigtime. So guys stay away from this phone if you imagined this will substitute the Ericsson's Walkman Series. My set got hung when I tried to manipulate a restricted file over a bluetooth transfer. The buggers at Nokia Service advised me not to use MMCs beyond 256 MB (mine had 512) (preferably remain with the supplied 32 MB!!!) to prevent such buggering ups, though I am sure in my case it was not the reason. This is an issue which is in the air but about which Nokia is silent as usual. But then again who doesn't know about the horrible customer support that Nokia provides around the globe? Summing it up, at 8K, this phone might be a worth buy. So are we waiting?
