What's in a name? Nokia definitely doesn't care, and so has named their new-age features phone after an ancestor. Good battery, Expandable memory, 1.3 MP camera, Bluetooth 2.0, EDGE. Uninspiring looks, Poor package, 9 MB internal memory.

Interface The Nokia 3110 Classic has the latest version of the Series 40 UI. It is stable and supports phone startup even without the SIM inserted. The interface is tweaked to provide smoother activity. It has a photo-call option and can keep logs of the last 20 calls dialed, received, and missed. It has a microSD card slot for memory expansion and 9MB of internal memory.

There is no memory card provided in the package, so you'd have to buy a card to use the phone as a music player. The in-built music player supports the following formats: MP3, MP4, AAC, AAC+, H.264, and WMA as well. Connectivity The Nokia 3110 Classic can suffice your basic needs for connectivity. It has Class 10 GPRS and EDGE, and HSCSD as well.

The phone has Infrared and Bluetooth 2.0 for transfers that doesn't support A2DP profile. The phone has a miniUSB port which is capable of USB 2.0 speeds, but the package doesn't include a cable for it. So make sure you buy a cable when you're shopping for the memory card. The phone supports Push-to-Talk. Battery Life

The battery life of the Nokia 3110 Classic is really good. It has a 1020 mAh battery which states 4 hours talk time and 370 hours of standby. The phone had its juices flowing for 3 days with over 3 hours and 30 minutes of talk time. I'm unable to confirm the days this phone would last when used as a music player or FM tuner, but I'm sure it won't be less than 2 days with a couple of hours of talk time.

Conclusion The Nokia 3110 Classic sells for Rs. 6, 800 with a one year warranty. The phone is not a bad pick, but there could be many who wouldn't opt for it because it looks similar to the 6030 or even the 6080 from Nokia. It is a good round up of features and is slim; but only time will tell how well this phone will actually do. A worry for this phone's sales could be the crashing prices of mobiles that urge people to spend a little more and go in for a better buy.
