I purchased a Nokia 2505 on 12 Feb going by the Nokia brand and the sleek looks.
The cell malfunctioned from the first day and calls kept getting dropped.
Initially we thought there was a problem with Reliance signal and it took us a couple of days to realise that the phone was not working properly.
I took it to the dealer who sent it to the Nokia service center. The diagnosis given was that the software had to be reinstalled and that there would be no problem here after, My requests for replacing the set were not agreed by Nokia or the dealer with the reply "Now there will be no problem".
After using it for a couple of days with the same "call dropping issue" and poor audio quality, I personally took it to a Nokia Care center on 12 mar 08 to return the set. They assured me that the set would be checked and if required they would replace it after acceptance by the company. On 14 mar, I was informed that the set would be sent to their main service facility and it may take upto 3 weeks for it to be returned. My pleas for replacing the set were again ignored.
I sent several mails to Nokia Care to highlight my point that the phone had a manufacturing defect and needs to be replaced, but Nokia care refused to do so. Finally on 05 Apr they informed me that the set has been received after repairs and I should collect it from the Care center. I have ofcouse refused to collect a repaired set when it should have been replaced considering that it had a manufacturing defect,
Nokia people have chosen to ignore this point and have refused to replace the set. This atrocious attitude of Nokia was an eye opener and I have decided to go to the consumer court on this issue.
I would advise everyone to be cautious while purchasing any Nokia product, because their customer care is totally ineffective and they will make you wait for 3-4 weeks for any kind of action to resolve evem basic problems.
