Hi,
What do you do if your dad's old bajaj dont start? You tilt it , kick it , spit on it, tweak the cables , curse it, and then start it ... voila! its fine as new! but not for long.
The nokia 2300, my friends.. surprised me with its similarity to the old bajaj or was it worse? I bought the 2300 last august. It was at its best for the first two days perfect interface (much similar to its gran'pa 3310), polyphonic tones, white screen, and above all a great Radio! The third day I got a rare problem usually seen only in computers... the phone was hanging whenever I use the radio. The fourth day , the sim was not being detected!
My friendly neighbourhood mobile phone service expert immediately knew the problem. ''This model has a problem with the software.. You need a new version'' . The result I had to spend Rs 600 to install the new software and 250 to replace the SIM which was corrupted due to this problem.
Now after the kicking and banging, my little butterfly is working just fine. Of course nokia could've made some provision to download or compose polyphonic tones coz we are stuck with the in built poly-tones with no wap or poly composer. But some mono tones do sound great when heard on poly speakers.
Ah yes about the comparison... It still sometimes hangs or crashes ..but very rarely like when you try to send a message while on a call accessing the phonebook for a number. I liked the phone because of its simple usage and compact modelling. plus it gives me a whopping 3 day battery backup .. I used to charge my T100 2 times daily ... :(
If you want to buy 2300... make sure you make the dealer install proper software on the insurance/warranty ... and enjoy the Bajaj butterfly
