Further to my review of the Nokia 6610i, which I bought for myself on the 9th March 2005 as my very first purchased handset, my wife started pestering me for a mobile for her own use. I told her what she needs a mobile for, there are PCO's all around Mumbai city. But she was not to be put off. So I decided to buy one more mobile phone the very next day.

Those were the days polyphonic tunes were just starting to become popular, many handsets still had the single tune ring tune which was known as Monophonic ring tunes. True Tone ring tunes were still not even present. Of course the handset had to be Nokia. Just as Xerox was synonymous with photocopying mobile phones meant Nokia and nothing else.

Nokia 2300 available in 3-4 different colour and as expected my wife choose the pink colour was a cute little basic feature phone of the day. This phone would go on to become one of Nokia's best-sellers selling way of 14 million handsets

The phone had all the basic features like SMS, Different ring-tunes, the ever popular snake game. It was still a b/w handset and no camera but then those were the days when a phone was a phone and nothing more.

Settings were simple to change and I thought this is it. For Rs 4000 I purchased this handset.

Just like the Nokia 6610i I have preserved this handset lovingly in its original box, bill and user manual. In fact both these handsets were used for a few days in 2015 when my main handset was gone in for repairs. Both of them worked as they were supposed to work.

Both these Nokia have survived the test of time. Today however Nokia has slipped into the pages of history. Oh! Those were the days
