You never forget your first love? You never forget your first cell phone? And before you start jumping to any conclusions, Nokia 1100 is so NOT my first cell phone? Want to know all about the interesting, but short life of my cell? Read on, human!!! (Bit if you are interested only in the cell phone and not in my life, then, feel free to skip the next three paragraphs. But then again, my life is way more fascinating than the phone)
It was a bright and sunny day when it all happened? I was giving the new nokia 2100 that my parents had bought suspicious looks out of the corner of my eye. I was thinking, ?Is it for me or are they gonna torture me and keep it for themselves?? Well, they decided not to torment me and so gave it to me. As simple as that.
The next few months passed like the wind on the prairie, so swiftly like the gallop of a wild horse! Then, I went on a 3 day 2 night trip to this town with my fellow choir team members for this competition? As expected the hotel food sucked. The competition was on the second night. We didn?t win. Hearts were broken, once high spirits dipped low into the dark crevasses of depression, sadness and an overwhelming sense of disappointment. But my cell phone was there to be the pillar I could lean on for support and love?
Then, the third day, as we were leaving the town to go back to school, we decided to stop at a McD?s on the way back since everyone was hungry. So we did. I got my self some unhealthy junk food and was slowly dragging my feet feeling miserable while munching cholesterol loaded fries when suddenly, ZeeKin, our friend who was ?in charge? of everyone, started rushing us to snap out of the death walk thingy and I was forced to speed walk back to the bus. And after 40 minutes, I decided to SMS my sister. And so, I expectantly dug into my pocket for my cell. AND?.
IT WAS GONE OH, My beautiful cellphone, my one true love, you left me!!! I suppose it fell out of my pocket on the road somewhere...
2 LONELY WEEKS PASSED
Then, I got another cell phone. As simple as that. Just like you can't mourn forever over the lost of your first love, you just move on with your second love!!! And that particular cell phone happened to be the one I am writing a review on. So NOW THE REAL REVIEW BEGINS:
This phone is as normal, and banal as any other. The usual features as follows :
a) MESSAGES ? normal, normal, normal. Except that it has a sent messages folder that comes in REALLY useful if you are the sort of person who forgets what message they write to whom!!! (like me)
b)CONTACTS ? okay, perfectly fine? If I say normal, will I be accused of repeating myself too much??? Normal.
c) CALL REGISTER ? what do you want me to say? Normal?
d)TONES ? The ringtones are rather? lifeless, to put it simply.
e)PROFILES ? a number of six profiles to mess around with. There are five animated screensavers. First one of a football just going maniacally over the screen in a repetitive motion. Second one of this tiger or cheetah galloping. Third one is my favourite. I just love the third screensaver which is of a penguin who tries to fly then totally flips and falls down in a ridiculous but cute tumble-down manner. Fourth one is of a clock. And the fifth one is useful if you are an absent minded genius (like me) who cannot remember the date and the day!!! ( I can?t help it. I really am too absent minded and forgetful for my own good)
f) SETTINGS
g)ALARM CLOCK ? I like the fact that you can set alarms in advance for certain days a week providing the alarm time is same.
h) REMINDERS ? I am a person who hates to wake up and loves to sleep. So, one alarm isn?t enough to wake me up because I have a tendency to just turn it off and go back to my dreams. So, what I do is that I set multiple reminders, all three to five minutes apart, with the last one being the latest time I must be up. Hey, I know it is weird but it is EFFECTIVE. I mean, after having 6 consecutive reminders going of one after another, I am bound to wake up out or sheer irritation and desperation to whack the phone to pieces. But of course, everyone is a wee bit crabby in the morning so I don?t follow my violent tendencies and actually wreck the poor cell phone to pieces!!! ?lol?
i) GAMES ? Only two miserable games that is Snake and space impact. I used to play snake long ago when I had to wait in queue or anything because I?d be so bored. But now, I am too busy in life to tinker with snakes and whatever they want to eat. Plus, I am sooo STUCK because I just cannot beat MY OWN high score. That?s weird I know. Me being better than myself, yet just the same??? Me against myself, eh??? I?d give Jay Sean a run for his money!!!
j) EXTRAS ? Calculator: I use this feature when I forget to bring my own calculator to my Physics tuition class!!! Stop watch. Countdown timer. Composer. Screen saver can be assessed through here also.
k) DIGI SERVICES ? services by digi???
You might have noticed that I left out a couple of things that makes this phone unique. Well, the best for the last.
a) the keypad ? truly very different, not that I am complaining.
b) the FLASHLIGHT ? flashlight in cell phone??? Truly, the world is getting very advanced!!! While in theory a flashlighted phone seems rather silly, in practical application, it IS useful. No more do nature freaks have to pack big, bulky flashlights with batteries when they go camping. They just have to bring their cell and charger!!!
NEGATIVE ASPECTS( I think)
Oh, come on. You really didn?t expect it to be so perfect, did you? Well, here is one negative aspect.
USING THE FLASHHLIGHT CONSUMES BATTERY FASTER AND THUS, THE CELL NEEDS FREQUENT RECHARGING?
HOWeVER? (with me, there is always a however)?, the battery lasts for anamazingly longtime IF, and only if, the flash light isn?t used? So is that really a negative aspect??? I don?t know. It all depends on the owner.
THE VERDICT
Order, order in the court!!! Err, order in Mouthshut!!! Judge Praveena is about to give her verdict? ?hem-hem?, she went (just like prof umbridge), ?overall, nokia 1100 is a pretty decent, basic cellphone with a rating of 4.5/5.?
