I did go to a mobile showroom with my friend. There I saw a number of mobile phones, most of them Nokia. It was a time when I had not been familiar with mobile phones.

When I asked him why am I seeing Nokia everywhere, he said that it is the most user-friendly. Then I had no doubt why all my friends use Nokia. This person did tell me that Nokia is the best and he bought a Motorola phone only because it was cheaper.

That was a situation long ago. Lets come to the present. What did he advice me and what did he do? Now, whenever he see anyone, he keeps on saying, Motorola is the best. Let him speak whatever he want to, what I am going to write here is on no Motorola as I haven't used any of the brand - this only one my cute mobile Nokia 1100.

Finally, I am going to write on a mobile phone for the first time. So please bear with me. I consider it a privilege to write about the ''made for India'' mobile Nokia 1100. What I like most about the mobile is that it is quite simple and easy to use.

After using Siemens for a limited amount of time, I am glad to get this one for myself, especially as this one has got no horns! It does have a long lasting battery life and it is easily portable due to its low weight.

What I found out was that this one does prevents dust and rain upto some extent! The torch of the mobile has been quite effective in the night for us especially when we search for the cricket ball while we play and also when we got something under our foot while walking in darkness.

And of course you can use it to drive your car or bike, but only if the head lights are on or when there is day light because it is not the most powerful of the lights.

Still it is good for any emergency use especially due to sudden power failures - they are some of the most frequent things now. It can be easily activated by clicking the 'c' key when on the main screen.

I bought the mobile for Rs 3,500. It got two games Snake II and Space Impact +. Both are good for time pass (or should I say time wasting?), even if the mobile games are nothing compared to the computer games. There is a chat option in this mobile too.

The only problem is that we cannot put our name or even initials along with the highest score - it would have made us play the games even more.

This one has got the composer and clock just like other mobile phones (I haven't used much mobile phones, so I can't speak about much of the other phones).

The mobile got good battery life and the calculator is also there. As long as the storage space is concerned, fifty contacts can be stored in the phone along with a good number of messages.

There are a number of picture messages which can be replaced at anytime. You can choose a good screen saver to impress those who look at your phones - if you don't have, you can get it from your friends.

There are some good ringtones already in store and there is extra space for seven more. You can also set remainders and alarms to get alerted.

There are already some profiles for you to select. The call register keeps the details of dialed, recieved and missed calls and the amount of time for which the calls lasted.

While sending a message, we can use different templates as well as insert smilies, symbols etc to add to the style of the message. The languages available are English, Hindi, Indonesian and Philipino.

There are lots of settings in the phone, some of them which I am still to learn. The phone is available in different colours - but the three I use are black, white and orange.

I don't know why, but black is my favourite colour now. I would have like a better keypad, but I can adjust with it. I use BPL connection and it hasn't been a problem for me so far.

Actually I still wonder how such a great set is available at this comparitively low price.....I will update the review if I have any new experiences with the mobile.....
