When my wife delivered our baby last year, we were told that our mediclaim did not cover pregnancy-related treatment. We bore the bill ourselves ( 1 lakh plus) and shortly therafter, I stared researching on policies that cover maternity in their standard plans. One was Royal Sundaram, the other Max Bupa. After spending 3 days reading the policy documents and the fine print of each, I chose Max Bupa. Last week I had my first opportunity to use the insurance. When you call up toll-free customer care, they introduce themselves by name, and take your name when they speak.
The customer care were extremely helpful, and at no point did I feel I was a burden to them. They looked into the case report, and then sent an email giving total approval of the treatment. Even when being discharged we called them, and they were extremely helpful.
