I applied to Max Bupa for a family floater health insurance for 2 a + 1 c. I contacted their corporate office for the insurance and their tele-person was good enough to making me purchase the insurance. One point they insisted was to pay in cash or through credit card so that they can send me the insurance policy in the coming two days. However, I wanted to pay in cheque which was collected by their agent.
Three days later I got the call and they asked me about my disclosure. After which they decided not to sell me the policy. I was informed that I will be getting a refund for the money paid. It is quite perplexing to find that I have to get refund for something I was never sold. They did not sell me the policy but they took my money. I understand the process of refund, if there were medical tests. But they just asked me questions and that was it. They could have done so before taking my money.
I am still waiting for the refund. It has been more than 10 days now. Hope I get the refund. it is 20k. I have gone for star health insurance and they need the money now. I can pay them only after I get the refund.
If you extrapolate, if this is so difficult for them to issue a refund for a policy they have denied, think about how difficult it would be for them to actually pay your claim. I think all these insurance companies are bogus. IRDA has to do something. Companies such as these will kill the spirit of people who goes for insurance. I am just one person who has given them 20k. In a day, the victims would be more than 100. Think about the money they will have to themselves for 10 - 20 days just by this game.
Disgusting Company and the filed.
