I am not going to bore you with specifications as you can find them anywhere on net.
If you are in wildlife especially birding, then this camera is for you. When taking bird photos, you know that, any zoom is not sufficient but that is no longer a case with Nikon P900. This is absolute best camera for birding and it allows you to go so close which DSLRs can't even think of. You can literally take a clear photo of bird even from 150 feet distance. For bigger birds the distance can be increased. DSLRs might give you better clarity but they don't reach anywhere near the monster 2000mm zoom of this P900. You don't need to crop photo any further after taking with this 2000mm lens.
So no advantage of DSLR over cropping ability. This is excellent for other wild animals too. It has good LCD screen with beautiful display, excellent image stabilization for 83x optical zoom and sufficiently fast capture speed between shots. The only drawback is little slow focus speed which can occasionally miss your shot(e.g- a bird can fly before you click). It is difficult to track the flying bid with this as the lens takes time to expand and focus. For stationary birds this is best.
But this is limitation with any Point and Shoot camera. Nevertheless it takes beautiful photographs of longest distance birds which DSLR owners can't even think of without spending 8-10 lakhs on equivalent lenses. Go for it if you want longest zoom and you are ready to compromise on certain things like focus speed. I have used previously Canon SX-50 HS, Fujifilm HS50 EXR and this Nikon P900 exceeds the image quality due to zooming power as you don't need to crop any further. Overall very satisfactory camera for stationary birds and wildlife. For landscape or travel photography, I don't recommend this one as this is big due to its big lens and you don't need this much zoom for landscape or other photography.
