Though being about a decade old, it still is one of the best mid-range DSLRs you can lay your hands on. This camera is not for absolute beginners, but a seasoned hand perhaps. Having separate and dedicated buttons, ones which you can re-program if you wish, provides a degree a flexibility when shooting. It has a similar resemblance to its full frame counterparts, if looks matter to you. The body feels sturdy and it can take a hit(or drop).

It skips out on the Wifi and the tilt screen gimmick, focusing on only a specific demographic. The sensor is old, and may feel sluggish at times when shooting RAW. Right out of the box, it suffers from focusing issues, which can be corrected manually later. If cinematography is your thing, the camera skips out on the 60p, which is disappointing. It'll get the basic job done nevertheless. The battery will serve you about 600-700 shots on a full charge. The picture quality is average, and has good low light performance. Pair it wish a good piece of glass, and it will serve you well. 16 MP is not a deal breaker, or at least it should not be. If you do not intend on getting large printouts, it is more than enough.

Who is it for?

Someone who knows how to or has used a DSLR before, and looking for an upgrade without breaking the bank.
