If you're looking to buy your first DSLR, look no further! Get this one. The body of the camera is solid and has a nice grip to it. The kit lens is good too. I have used it for 3 months and its performance and easy operations are awesome. I also purchased 55-200 zoom lens after one month of its purchase and that is the best companion for this DSLR.
The camera is amazing specially to take pictures of moving objects. Portraits too come out awesome. Be sure to check out the different settings in the guide option.
The 24.1 mp is the star feature of this camera and although it doesnt matter much, it really helps when you need to crop your pics without losing the information. I can almost crop up 60% of the frame and still retain the picture quality.
All in all, you can bank on this one if you're a beginner. If you are more into indoor photography, go for D5100 but its heavier than this one and the swivel screen is not much useful except for video mode.
CMOS sensor size is 23.2 x 15.4 mm, which is not so good with 24MP. Clearly, the camera with the larger sensor has larger pixels that are more sensitive to light, and which can provide better image quality, particularly at higher ISO settings.
