I bought this product over a year back for about Rs.5000.
The battery compartment latch is of thin plastic, which broke recently. This was a clear product defect.
I went to the Service Centre at faraway Morol Naka, where only 1 out of 3 persons at the counter attended customers! In any case only 1 customer strolled in while I was there for 30 mins. in peak time, and he was asked to wait till my discussion was over.
The estimate given for repair: Rs.1000 for the small lid of the battery compartment worth Rs 10 and Rs.1000 for labour of 15 mins.
Is this the way Nikon serves their customers? Of couse, I would rather throw the camera away, than get the flimsy part replaced at an exorbitant price!
I would advise all prospective Nikon customers to stay far away from this brand till they have a proper Service Policy.
