Nikon's newest superzoom camera, the Coolpix B700, provides users a powerful built-in, high-powered zoom lens and new Nikon SnapBridge wireless functionality designed to make sharing images easier than ever before.

The follow-up to the Nikon Coolpix P610, the Coolpix B700 uses a 20.3-megapixel backside-illuminated CMOS sensor to reportedly achieve high-quality imaging performance even in low light. Additionally, the B700 offers advanced users the ability to capture RAW ( .NRW) files for increased creative control. These are both improvements over the P610, which utilized a 16.1-megapixel BSI CMOS sensor and did not offer RAW image capture.

Paired with the 1/2.3-inch type sensor is a 4.3-258mm lens, which provides the 35mm equivalent field of view of a 24-1440mm lens. The lens' maximum aperture range is f/3.3-6.5, and it includes sixteen elements in eleven groups. There are four ED lens elements and one super ED element in this 60x optical zoom Nikkor ED lens.

The B700 uses contrast-detect AF and offers face priority, manual ( spot, normal, and wide) , subject tracking, and target finding autofocus modes. The camera also has lens shift vibration reduction ( VR) when capturing still images and lens shift and electronic VR when recording movies. The inclusion of VR is very important, not only given the amount of zoom range but also for lower light shooting due to the rather dim variable maximum aperture. No spec was given for the amount of correction provided by the VR system.
