We decided to for a digital camera, so we dont need to spend money on camera roll and developing. It is also easier for us to just copy the photos and upload them on to the web!
I did do a research comparing the different companies and the models that they have. We were told by friends that Nikon has the best battery life. My brother tried this camera which was with his colleague and we decided to go for it. We bought the camera at dubai airport where for the price listed below, we got the following:
1) Camera
2) 256 MB memory
3) Battery
4) Case and accessories
The features include:
1) 8.3 x optical zoom
2) 4x digital zoom
There is a nikon lithium battery that lasts for around 150 photos. The optical zoom is quite good though after 6x(I believe) you would need a tripod, to ensure that the picture doesnt shake!(A slight shake at this zoom level, would turn in to a blur in the final image). The inbuilt memory cannot hold too many photos, so we do need an additional 256 MB memory card. This card is a normal SD card, hence the price is on the cheaper side!
This camera is only a 4 mega pixel camera which is more than sufficient for normal users!
The accessories allow us to connect the camera to the tv, computer/laptop(as all the other digital cameras support!)
The downside of the camera is:
1) That it takes a few seconds for the picture to be taken, hence it may be difficult to take a photo of a fidgety child(Could have been fixed in the latest version, you would need to check)
2) We cannot use normal batteries, hence we need to ensure that the battery is fully charged when you are going out for sightseeing
