On our recent trip to Goa, our old and repaired and coaxed-to-work digicam finally breathed its last......it just refused to start. So our long postponed moment of buying a new digicam had finally arrived.

Being a diligent Sony follower, the obvious first choice was the Sony Cybershot series. But having read more than a few not-so-good reviews and Nikon being hugely recommended, we checked it out also. And the ease of usage as well as the photo quality, added with the price, made our choice very easy.

We picked the Nikon Coolpix L1, the latest in the Coolpix series. Its got 6.2 Megapixels, 5X optical zoom and 8X precision digital zoom, with the customary Nikor lens.

I managed to take the most amazing pictures, was able to zoom on a picture already taken and store the zoomed version as a new pic! Also this piece has a 16-shots photo option, in which 16 shots are taken at miniscule intervals, the result being similar to a slow motion movie!!

Having just bought Nikon for the first time, this is a truly awesome buy, the only hitch being that the only service centre is Mazda, near VT Station, Mumbai.
