The Nike Men's Free Trainer 5.0 is not the usual Running shoe we usually meet. The common thing that we all see in most running shoes are their large soles to protect the soles of our legs from the impact while running. Now this concept is no there in these shoes. Nike Free Trainers are of a different concept - No Large Soles!
Its this new concept of barefoot running. According to experts now constant impact on our soles could bring damage to our bodies and human legs are thus made in such a way that while we are running our soles are not the first part to hit the floor. But while wearing traditional running shoes with big soles you land on soles only.
Now after using these shoes I found this is not the case. When I run I land on "mid-foot". It feels really different. We wont feel like wearing a shoe at all. Feels like running without one, exactly what the company says. Also its super light. You could walk around with it without even feeling its on your legs. It does what it claims. My legs feel great after the running.
Important things to Keep in Mind:
Those who have been running on traditional running shoes should start on these shoes carefully. Attempt slow progress inorder to understand the way you legs are gonna behave in these shoes. You will find your legs shifting from sole to mid sole for the impact and the feet freely bends more like barefoot running. Patiently advance to this style.
My foot size is 8, but before buying this shoes I checked at some stores wearing various brands and found, even though my size is 8, a size 9(UK 9) fits my feet more perfect. You have to keep this in mind while buying this shoe particularly because like traditional shoes these ones don't have a tongue.
There are numerous videos in youtube about these shoes. You should check them before buying in order to under stand the concept of these shoes.
Conclusion:
I use these shoes in my Gym training. These are great for Running as well as Weight Lifting. During weight lifting you will feel that strong grip on the floor and freedom as you get from a shoe less feet. So I recommend these shoes.
