Nicolas Cage is a big name in Hollywood. Yet to me he is under-rated. Just because he hasn't got a media hype with all the affairs and stuff like Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt do, doesn't mean he isn't popular. Nicolas Cage is one such actor in my knowledge that no one can stay away from. At least one of his performances in any of his movies has succeeded to touch the viewers world over.
Though I am a big fan of this actor, I failed to follow the initial phase of his career. But I've heard that Nicolas has been an Oscar winner! Academy awards are not new for him. I started watching him with his Blockbuster action flick FACE/OFF!
Now I won't have to introduce FACE/OFF since it does NOT need any introduction. All of us know how many times Bollywood has tried to ape the superhit formula used in this movie, yet even the talented Bollywood makers fail to repeat the success of FACE/OFF and rather make a BO dud like MADHOSHI or YAKEEN! Why? One of the big reasons being that they don't have a Nicolas Cage at their disposal. If John Abraham, Arjun Rampal, or Priyanshu Chatterjee have to do the honors, then please give me a break! Nicolas deserves much better actors, perhaps ones like Sanjay Dutt or Akshay Kumar to do even half good as he did in the movie.
His other action movies like ''Gone in sixty seconds'' and ''Con-Air'' were also my instant choices after his knockout performances in these Box Office successes! He was a trend-setter in THE ROCK and stood his ground despite a seemingly author-backed role for a much senior actor like Sean Connery.
Then one cannot forget his comic, light-hearted movies like ''It Could Happen to You'' and ''Matchstick men''. Nicolas was two thumbs way UP, in these roles that are highly in contrast with arguably his most popular movie FACE/OFF! Nicolas has proven his versatility with amazing ease and his fans and admirers have multiplied over the years.
I still believe he has a lot more to offer. I still have to catch his latest ''National Treasure'' and I just hope it is as good many Nicolas Cage movies have been.
Folks, Thanks for reading, I am sure Nicolas deserves one read of urs,
