They're okay conditioners, but there are better

Ease of Use:

I have the Nexxus Keraphix and also the Nexxus Humectress. First a brief background of my hair. It is dry as the desert. It loves moisture like crazy. So I am always in search of a moisturizing conditioner. You don't want to know what my closet looks like lol.

-------------------------------------------------------------

The Humectress conditioner is created for hair that is dry or brittle. Great for those with curly hair or permed hair. Of course there is the fancy-schmancy marketing babble printed on the bottle that will make you believe that this conditioner is the answer with all your hair woes. With talks of lipids, emollients, exotic oils and whatnot.

So I purchased this at a local salon in the travel size tubes, which is 150 ml. I was so excited to try this that I washed my hair the same day. I shampooed my hair with some shampoo I had laying around. After I rinsed my hair from all the shampoo (since shampoo residue can be very drying and may aggravate a flaky scalp). I towel blotted my hair to reduce the excess water and slathered on the Humectress conditioner. Then I waited 3 minutes for the conditioner to seep in and I detangled my hair with a wide tooth comb. Then I waited and extra 5 - 10 minutes and rinsed. The end result was my hair looked pretty good. Since I tend to get heavy handed with conditioners, I bought the liter size during a special the salon was having. After a while, the conditioner began to bore me, so I am using it infrequently. For me it wasn't moisturizing enough. I needed something richer. Since I bought a liter size, it has lasted me for about a year or more.

Here are the ingredients:

Water, Stearalkonium Chloride, Glycerin, Cetyl Alcohol, Mineral Oil, Cetearyl Alcohol, Triticum Vulgare (Wheat) Flour Lipids, Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate, Alpha Glucan Oligosaccharide, Keratin Amino Acids, Panthenol, Tocopherol Acetate, Magnesium Citrate, Manganese Citrate, Avocado Oil, Glycine Soja (Soybean) Sterol, Ceramide 3, Butyl Methoxydibenzoyl Methane, Octyl Methoxycinnamate, Myristic Acid, Palamitic Acid, Stearic Acid, Sodium Chloride, Polyglyceryl 3 Distearate, Polysorbate 60, Polysorbate 20, Potassium Sorbate, Guar Hydroxypropyltrimonium Chloride, Petrolatum, Stearyl Alcohol, Disodium EDTA, DMDM Hydantoin, Iodopropynyl Butylcarbamate, PEG 40, Castor Oil, Citric Acid, Phenoxyethanol, Methylparaben, Propylparaben, Fragrance, Red 4, Yellow 5, Blue 1, Red 33

Now the Keraphix is a protein reconstructor, meaning if you have seriously damaged your hair due to constant high temp blowdrying, gotten a TR, excessive dyeing, and flat ironing or curling your hair, then this stuff will help your hair feel like normal. Now let me state that nothing can cure breakage or damaged hair but cosmetically make it look nice. With that said, let's continue with the review.

I bought this conditioner because I was at one salon and they totally ruined my hair. I was so distressed that I went to another salon and asked them what they would recommend. The sales associate recommends the Keraphix. I bought the liter size since it was on sale.

When I used it, I used a clarifying shampoo to remove all chemicals and minerals that will hinder penetration of this conditioner. Then I applied the Keraphix on towel blotted hair and slowly detangled my hair. I waited 10 then rinsed thoroughly. Since this is a protein conditioner, I followed this treatment up with a moisturizing conditioner such as Humectress. This prevents more breakage from ensuing. The end result is that it slowed down the breakage a little bit. Nothing dramatic IMO. Anyways I rarely use this conditioner. I just use it like once every 8 weeks.

I would highly recommend that you get the 150 mL to see if you like it, or even better try to get samples. Mind you everyone's hair is different and what may work for me may not work for me and vice versa. Also if you have oily scalp, please apply conditioner to your ends and never the scalp. That also goes for those with fine hair.
