NewYork Movie - Bakwaas!

I watched this movie yesterday. The basic plot of the storyis that there are Muslims living in US, many of whom were detained after9/11 attacks, and they have to through vigorous inquiry about the attack. Mostof them were innocents and one of them Sam(played by John Ibrahim) becomes aterrorist, to avenge the inhuman treatment that he has to face whileinterrogation.

I found basic common sense and sensibilities missing in the major part ofmovie. The screenplay has many loopholes, which, synergically ends upmaking movie absolutely off target.

Firstly, the movie seems to be giving a message that terrorist are victim ofcircumstances, which I believe is very irresponsible on part the film makers(mainly the director and the producer). Modern terrorism is an organized crime, and a form of business. Take Kasab's case for instance. From what we have beenhearing from the court proceedings, he does have his family in Pakistan, andother sources also indicates that he have had a fairly normal upbringing andits clear that he has not become terrorist because of anything inhuman done tohim, he is just a trained terrorist, a professional. That’s it, people dobecome terrorist by choice, as simple as that!

Now why I found the movie to be misleading is because itseems to be showing that USA was unjustified to interrogate suspected Muslimsafter 9/11, because most of them were innocents. I am using the word Muslimshere, because movie openly says they Muslims were treated badly - not Indians, or Hindus, or browned skin; it was not about a country or race, but it wasabout religion – they admit this openly in the movie.

Now the director failed miserably to convey this point ofhis. At one hand he is showing Sambeing targeted for being Muslim, and at the other hand he is showing the FBItrusting another Muslim officer(Irfan Khan) in this ‘super secret mission’! SoUSA is both discriminating and fair at the same time! The director is obviouslyconfused about what he want to show!

The movie also seems to generate sympathy towards Sam, atthe expense of FBI. It gives you a feel what US and FBI did was not justified, which does not makes sense. WhateverFBI did after 9/11 was absolutely justified, it might not be correct, someinnocent people will always get unfortunate in a massive detention process, butit is justified! The fact that Sam and all others got released afterinterrogation proves that FBI was justdoing their job, and didn’t had any personal grudge against anyone. They didwhat they found apt at that time, and given the circumstances and the pressureto find out the real culprit, and in order to prevent any further incidentslike 9/11, FBI was justified to go harsh on people which they suspected at thattime.

The worst part of the movie is its ending where director forno reason kills protagonist, this was a cheap way to gain sympathy of audience, he messed up with the plot right from the beginning, and realized that it toolate to mend it up, got mad, didn’t knew what to do, and finally decides theold bollywood trick. This movie is neither entertaining, nor meaningful. Its misleading, boring, and confusing. I didn’t expected this from the director and producer duo, who has earlier made a movielike Kabul Express. May be they thought that even the sound of bullets can bemade musical! Well, it can’t be, Sir!
