New York came as a pleasant surprise after strike. This movie can easily be considered the best film to come out of theYash Raj Films after Chak De India. It is mostly shooted in the US, the filmis not only at par with the best of the Hollywood films but is a completely different experience which the Bollywood films generally don't offer. We were completely hooked from the first sceneof the film when Neil is arrested by FBI and the interrogation thatfollows by Irrfan of Neil’s.
The first half is extremely well narratedand keeps one constantly guessing as to what will happen next. Theinterval point is a shocker and you look forward to an exciting secondhalf. But then the pace of the second half somehow doesn’t match upthat of the first half and there are some predictable things .But nonetheless movie is packed with some really great moments. The climaxthough a bit word heavy is superbly shot as well. The torture scenesshown send a shiver down your spine.Pritam’s music is easy on the ears but could have been better
New York scores high in the acting department with each single actordelivering his/her best. John Abraham has delivered his career’s finest performance. Katrina Kaif has finally got the meatiest role of her career and she has taken full advantage of it. She is very good in emotional scenes as well. Neil shines and has acted well. Irrfan Khan never disappoints and here again he is in great form. New York takes up a topical theme and exposes the atrocities committed by American FBI to which over hundreds of innocent Muslimpeople had fallen prey to post 9/11. It is a must watch for manyreasons so just don’t miss it.
