My daughter is 3 year old and I was looking for school around Cisco office on ORR. I did not want her to travel in bus in bangalore traffic and so shortlist 3 schools which are nearby
New horizon gurukul
Geetanjali olympiad
Gear international school
Gear has already stopped admissions and therefore was out of question. My preference was gurukul and so went to the place to figure out the details. They informed me that they will not share any detail till I filled an application form worth 500/-
After that they took 3 yr old to a room for interview and she was scared as hell and cried a lot. I am not sure why they were trying to interview a 3 yr old. It has to be their job to take kids and train them to be grown ups. After that they took us to round of school. It was just like a regular school, not much better than school were I studied years ago.
Nursery classrooms were having regular furniture laid out in rows which will be difficult to manage toddlers. Also, they have 40 kids in each class which is huge for nursery kids. Even the digital classrooms were starting only from 2nd class. All the extra-curricular activity rooms were in basement. Another thing was that they are setting up a new building for pre-primary about 1 km from current building.
No one was able to tell clearly as to when that would be ready. Then came the real shocker, they asked for 1.5 lacs upfront fee apart from annual fees. They were completely not ready to agree that they keep changing this upfront fee even after I told them that I know parents who have paid lesser. Anyways, since I did not like the school anyways, I did not think it is worth that much money.
I am going to put my kid in geetanjali since I liked their classroom concepts and they have digital means starting from nursery class onwards. Their campus is not fully ready yet but my daughter is still small and wont need all other facilities. They have swimming pool and tennis court under construction.
Fees is reasonable and teachers appear decent in whatever discussing I have had. Problem is that they are not allowing me to meet principal or teachers and only vice principal can be met before admissions.
