New Digha is a seaside tourist place in West Bengal, India. It resides in East Midnapure district. New Digha or Digha sea beaches are famous for it gentle shallow sand and low waves. Sea is very calm in most of the time at this place. In 1923 English business man John Frank started living here and people come to know about this place from his writings. There are mainly three seasons you can feel in Digha, summer, monsoon and winter.
Transportation is good, if you want to reach Digha, you can avail bus route or train route as per your convenient. But if you are in Kolkata, then you can avail bus from Dharmatala. In 2004 train service starts for Digha and it is called Digha Railway Station. Old Digha sea beach is very small and that is why this new extension of Digha sea beach which known as New Digha has gained tourist interest.
If you are in Kolkata and you want to do a short trip with you family or friend for 2 - 3 days or want to enjoy weekend. Then you can reach this place from Kolkata with in 4 - 5 hours of journey via road. And people also loves to reach Digha via road from Kolkata. Specially young enthusiast people love riding on bikes. This is an awesome rode for uninterrupted bike riding.
In Digha you can enjoy the sunrise and sunset on Digha sea beach, Marine Aquarium Research Center(MARC) and also Lord Shiva temple in Chandaneswar.
Moreover it is good place for weekend outing. You could enjoy going there with your friends, family or your better half.
