Delhi meri jaan.. for delhities (i may be wrong in spellings) is a true jaan some may call out the highly polluted city.. with the trouble of transport etc etc but incidently I found delhi the best place to live in...

Born in lucknow.. and brought up, educated in delhi.. that is putting up in Delhi for more than 20+ years I had found delhi growing at rapid pace with economy catching up fast.. I still remember those old DTC bus which use to create the max noise with high level of pollution and then the intersection of ITO and Ashram and Dhula Kaun but thanks to MS. Shiela Dixit ( I am not fav Congress) who and her team spear headed the concept of making Delhi transport the reliable one and pulling up CNG here and then Metro.. well I could see Delhi being an expiremental rabbit with success, no matter if its Television to CNG to metro we had a success.. people here are from all walks of life from UP bhaiya to Bihar biharis to Kashmir's Kashmiris to Punjab's Punjabi's we do not have one kind of food here we have Dosa to Chole Bhature to Chicken to Mughlai to Chinese and etc ..

Things here are cheap take it transport, clothing, food, shelter or whatever I think u may agree to that..

Delhi has been a center of activity for a while.. take it british raj or to mughals or to Indian democracy. Delhi has been center but ironically history has not been preserved here.. very few people know here that this is the only city in the country thru which if u take a straight route u cross the border of India and thats the only reason that it was the center of attraction and hence forth become the capital of India..

Some of the quick facts of Delhi..

  • Delhi being the only city which is covered by Aravali hills which ends some where near south of Delhi and is also covered by Himalayas..

  • The only city which faces all the four seasons.

  • Connected properly by the raod network before the lauch of Mr. Atal's Road network plan that was the only reason that great GT road goes all the way from Delhi..

  • Has one river called Yamuna which is bit polluted but incidently is not only the source of water.. delhi has good under water reserve (which is depleating)

  • Delhi unlike Bombay is expaning Horizontally e.g. Noida, GZB, Gurgoan (also called satellite city)

  • Owns the largest number of cars in terms of vol (put together 3 metros and delhi has those numbers)

  • and what more.. I am sorry I dont remember..

Lets peep into the history of Delhi..

  • Delhi like a widow has been ruined several times but whom so ever conquered it was the winner take it british, Moughals, Gazzi or Indian politics (Challo Delhi)

  • Has been the trade center for the major part of country .. mostly north part of more than 2 centuries.. even today we get apples from himachal which are traded here and are sold of to Himachal again!!!! (some of u may not belive it.. Azad pur mandi is the Asia's biggest trade center in terms of vol, capacity and the transaction that it handles for fruit, vegitable etc)

  • Also known for preserving its tradition and religion.. incidently delhi is not having one religion like punjabi or whatever.. has diversity in different areas go to east delhi thats still traditional with Tonga's and Chai stalls etc etc.. and come down to south delhi its Lexus to Merc to pubs etc etc.. so ..::)

  • Some of the Historical facts about Delhi..

  • all of us know Quatab Minar but there was a cousin for a Quatab minar some where in Hastal of Uttam Nagar in Delhi which now stands ruined.. the only preserved one is Quatab Minar that came to the highlight becoz of that Airplane clash with Quatab Minar.. and that was basically used for astronomical calculation etc etc and so was for Jantar Mantar some where near to Connought Place..

  • Lets Come down to Red Fort.. which comes to lime light if there is any bomb blast or on 15th Aug when PM addresses nation but the fact is that river Yamunna which now is very far of from Red fort use to touch the Red fort to that extent that people actually could take a dip in that and the stones used for making Red fort are Red in color and each stone was transported from some where near jaipur to delhi.. it took decades to build the Red Fort.. which stands today bit faded becoz of massive pollution

  • Delhi has several gates which are major landmark in delhi but hardly few people know that these gates actually if followed straight could knock u off from the border of India.. for eg.. Kashmiri Gate near ISBT if u follow the road u go straight out to Kashmir, Ajmeri Gate if u follow the straight road u go straight out to Ajmer and then out of country.. Delhi Gate was used to enter Delhi and Lahori Gate takes u to Lahore... thats what is my friend called Delhi.. isn't it amazing city!!!!

Well things have change so is culture and tradition.. with things picking up fast with Mcdonalds to Hayat to Pebble Street to Lahori de Kulfi and etc etc from Salwar kamez to Mini's to Sari's in Zohara Emporium to Bhurkha's in Chandni Chowk to Ritu Beri to Kapil Dev.. Delhi has been the headlines and has made nation proud take it Sushmita Sen to Kapil to Shewag to Mittal's and Goenka and etc etc...

Well Delhi has not been the center of attraction for travellers unlike Rajasthan or Goa or East India and is not as so called fast what mumbai is known but still its able to keep up the pace with tradition and trend balancing the both.. thats what is called India.. and thats what is delhi .....

Like any other city Delhi has some problems like: -

  1. No fun place or time pass place unlike mumbai.. we have beaches around.. but in delhi...

  2. Bit of congestion as we have traffic flowing from other sides of states..

  3. Center for terrisiom

  4. Not safe for women in nights

thats it yaar... cannot continue even if I know!!!!:)).. after I live there....

thanks for spending some time...
