This is my first experience reading Kauzo Ishiguro and I loved her writing style. Never let me go is a beautiful work of literary fiction, some people classify this as a science fiction, that is not at all true. Even though there is a bit of what if element to this novel, but in general this is not a science fiction.
This novel is set in England in 90’s probable even late 80’s because in the beginning, we will meet a girl called Kathy, who is 31 years old, and as the story progress she tells her story starting with a time when she was in a boarding school.
The premise doesn't reveal itself until a bit into the book and it is something that you will slowly put together as the book goes on. Most people will love this book and it will give them a lot to think about, but I can definitely see that this is not for everybody. This isn't a book that will shock you with action or out of nowhere twist, it is something that built up slowly, something that you have to think about, and gradually it will break your heart little by little.
It has a very clear sense of place, a very nostalgic, but also progressively nightmarish atmosphere to it and the writing style is just stunning. The main characters in the novel are Kathy, Ruth and Tommy and I really liked the way they are written, I felt they were realistic, flawed in a very human and natural way.
