My husband's business holds a yearly convention in Las Vegas, Nevada. Vegas holds a special place in my heart, because that's where I attended most of my grade school years.
At lot has changed in Vegas since I lived there....I think for the better.
When my daddy was transferred to California, we spent our last night in Vegas in a hotel not far from the strip. I can't recall the name of the hotel we were in, but I do have a vivid memory of the Silver Slipper. There was this gigantic slipper all covered with lights, spinning on a pole. I could see this out the window of our hotel room, and I remember watching it for a LONG TIME!
On this trip, my husband and I stayed at the MGM Grand. Our room was fabulous, but we didn't spend much time there. There was so much going on with the convention that we were constantly on the move. The few hours we had to our selves in the evening we spent with friends touring the casinos.
Vegas is very warm this time of year, but that didn't slow us down. We walked all over the Strip, which was lit up like daylight. We actually spent more time in the New York, New York Hotel than the MGM Grand.
We played a few card games and spent a little bit of time on the machines, but there is MORE to Vegas than gambling! There are shows.....many, many flashy shows! There is probably a show for everyone's taste. They are a bit pricey, though. Most of the shows I wanted to see started at $60 per person. David Copperfield was there with his Magic Show, Rita Rudner the Comedian was still there (she was there last year), VH1 Divas was opening the day we left...Sigfried and Roy with their tigers is very popular...Celine Dion is there.....I could list shows and run out of space here, but I think you get the idea.
